About Me

New to CS, and currently only in the market to be hosted, seeing as I'll be out of the country and away from my Boulder home until Summer, '16

(I'm the fellow in the picture with the redbeard and piss beer)

Lucky enough to call Colorado my home, born and raised in Denver and surrounding areas. Made my way up to beautiful Boulder as soon as I could, and I've been there for 3 years now, I'm going on my 4th year as an Environmental Engineering student at CU Boulder. I never travel as much as I'd like, but I try my best to see the world around me when I have the opportunity. I see myself making my way up to the Pacific Northwest after I graduate, and from there I just wanna see where the wind takes me! Favorite part of life is new experiences and enticing conversations with anyone who has something to tell.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

How could I not??
I tried it for the first time with a friend when we took an impromptu trip up to Telluride, CO. Our Courchsurfing host actually made the trip a bigger success than we could have asked for, and now we've come away with it with a great friend and a couch to crash on any time we're up in Telluride.
I can't think of a cooler way to travel and meet new people, I'm in the prime time of my life to expand my horizons and I wanna waste no time doing so.

Interests

I stay outdoors as often as I can. Hiking, mountaineering, snowboarding, scrambling, driving, camping/backpacking.
Environmentalism, music, nature, hemp, water, mountains, beer, wine, conversations, adventures.
I went into Environmental Engineering so I wouldn't have to choose between these passions and a career. I'm afraid too many people don't appreciate or notice the beauty that's all around us, and I never wanna let myself take all that beauty for granted.

Music, Movies, and Books

I grew up on mountain music: folk, bluegrass, acoustic guitars, classic rock, blues/jam.
I'm also big into hip hop, electronic, glitch, chill, jazz and funk.
Father John Misty, The Black Keys, Eric Clapton, Atmosphere, Nas, Typhoon, The Smiths, Trampled by Turtles, Elephant Revival, Pretty Lights, Griz, String Cheese Incident, Grateful Dead, Kings of Leon, Led Zeppelin, CCR, Gov't Mule, Boombox, Tom Waits, Allman Brothers

I don't read like I wish I did, but lately I've been a big fan of Stephen King.
I'm big into movies, but they've gotta be worth watching. I've recently discovered the genius of Alfred Hitchcock.

Mega-nerd for Lord of the Rings, that's a very important part of me (hoping to go visit Middle Earth while I'm down under)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Technically I can't count this yet, but the most amazing thing I've done in my life is definitely a whole semester abroad in Wollongong, Australia.

Things I've actually done:
Week long roadtrip through Rockies, ending up in the Canyonlands near Moab.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love to listen and share. I'm always content just listening to other's experiences, because there's always something important to learn from any experience that's not your own.

I usually have more to offer than I think I do, though my goal is to continue to have experiences that make great stories.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Hopefully some worthwhile stories of my travels and experiences!
Also I like to bring a small gift as a gesture of gratitude to my host (for instance, I brought my first host a pineapple), because those of you hosting surfers are the best kind of people!
