About Me

CURRENT MISSION

If it probably won't result in my grisly death, give it a go.

ABOUT ME

I knew in my early teens I wanted to travel the globe. Just so much damn world to see in the tiny blip that is our lives. Life is a book, travelling, pages you know the quote. So when I'm not traveling I'm usually saving up for travel.
Right now the thing that pays for my travels is telling computers how to do things. Before that it was teaching preschool and flipping burgers.

Personality wise, I'm generally a pretty gregarious dude. I'm a fan of random tangents and have an improvisational sort of humor. And thanks to those years of preschool teaching I built up an incredible amount of patience. Which is helpful when I inevitably take the wrong train or lose my wallet...again.

PHILOSOPHY

Ya know still trying to figure this one out. I'm attend to find the right balance between living in the moment but working for something greater. Anyways while I figure that out here's a quote from Chaplin's speech in The Great Dictator speech I love.

"More than machinery we need humanity. More than cleverness we need kindness and gentleness. Without these qualities, life will be violent and all will be lost…."

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

The people. Historic buildings, delicious food, stunning vistas are all a fantastic part of the travel experience. But being able to exploring the different ways we all experience the human condition is what makes travel the most interesting

Interests

Grappling has been a big part of my life since I started wrestling at 13. It's the one thing that's guaranteed to put me into a flow state every time. It's also great for cultural exchange. Every civilization has their own form of grappling. And even if you don't speak the same language on the mats there's a mutual understanding.

Podcasts! (And audiobooks) They're my favorite form of media. You get all the entertainment of other media. But with the ability to wander around a city, do chores, or cook at the same time.
