About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I want to find my passion.

ABOUT ME

I fashion myself a polymath and outdoorsman.

I'm majoring in Math, but I love learning and conversing about just about anything.

PHILOSOPHY

This is something I'm still trying to formulate.

I value substance over pretense.
I value getting my hands dirty.
I value honesty to a fault.
I value learning, and always being willing to learn.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

(I'm assuming this means life in general)
I'm a curious, impulsive person who learns through trial and error. It means I get hurt sometimes, but I wear my scars as trophies.

I'm a thigmophile. I need to touch things, to interact with them. I love getting my hands dirty.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

No Couchsurfing experience as of yet - I'm looking to begin an adventure!

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: I lean electronic and alternative, and have recently been getting a taste of hip-hop. Things I've been loving recently: Lemaitre, RAC, SBTRKT, Blue Scholars, Dan Croll, Poolside.

Books: Game of Thrones, The Signal and the Noise, Malcolm Gladwell, China Mieville, Dune, Shop Class as Soul Craft

Movies: Fantastic Mr. Fox, How to Train Your Dragon 2, The Grand Budapest Hotel, Hero (the one with Jet Li), Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've worked as a river guide for the past three summers in Northeastern Utah, USA.

My company runs 4 and 5 day trips out of Vernal, UT, and we run class 3, 4, and 5 rapids on the two rivers in Dinosaur National Monument.

It's been an amazing opportunity for me. I've people from all inclinations and walks of life, learned a whole lot in the way of soft skills, and gotten to enjoy being out in the wilderness, cut off from the world at large.

The Milky Way is pretty impressive when you're in your sleeping bag, staring at the sky from the seat of your boat.

Teach, Learn, Share

A few things I like doing and teaching:
- knots
- math
- grammar
- fixing bikes
