About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Finding out what I'll do when I grow up. There's no deadline.

ABOUT ME

I'm an all-round geek with a strong leaning toward computing. This owes to my love for experimentation, made easy and relatively consequence free by playing with software as opposed to, let's say, psychology or applied physics (this would be a good example: http://xkcd.com/242/ ).

I've been excessively(*) curious for as long as i can remember, and firmly believe that while curiosity might've killed the cat it probably died happy.
* or so I've been told

I was born and raised in Transylvania, which made for an interesting childhood and currently makes for some pretty unimaginative jokes.

PHILOSOPHY

If nobody's shouting, it can probably wait.

Music, Movies, and Books

My favourite form of escapism is reading, followed by games and movies (they're really fun but wouldn't stand a chance against a great book if I have to choose).

Books: The Discworld series and anything by Terry Pratchett, Dune series, Culture series by Iain Banks, Gateway, Tuf Voyaging, Ender's Game, World War Z, John Dies At The End, I, Claudius, Quo Vadis

Movies: Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog, Dawn of the Dead, The Devil's Rejects, Battle Royale, Dr. Strangelove, 2001: A Space Odissey, Full Metal Jacket, anything by Kubrick basically, Pulp Fiction (and most of Tarrantino's films), Equilibrium, Donnie Darko, 28 Days Later, Sunshine, The Shawshank Redemption, Moon, Black Cat, White Cat, Clerks, Blade Runner, Sweeney Todd, Delicatessen, Fucking Ã…mal, Fight Club, Ice Age (what?)...

I'm a sucker for watching horror movies with friends - especially bad ones, they make the best comedies :)

TV Shows: Farscape, Firefly, That '70s Show, Futurama, Happy Tree Friends, 'Allo 'Allo!, Battlestar Galactica, Babylon 5, Carnivale, Deadwood, Friends, Band of Brothers, Walking Dead

Games: Half-Life series, Left 4 Dead series, Portal, Eternal Silence, Beyond Good and Evil, Psychonauts, Rome: Total War, Mount & Blade, Just Cause 2, Red Alert series

Music: A little bit out of every genre in existence (except for "manele" and maybe screechy bollywood music and japanese pop), from Vivaldi to crazy stuff like Insane Clown Posse (hey, they're very funny and make great sounding music but that doesn't make'em any less batshit), passing through Pink Floyd, Ugress, Kalya Scintilla, Ott, Fanfare Ciocarlia, Parazitii, Chinese Man Records, Alabama 3 and many, many others.

Teach, Learn, Share

I've been paid for the last ten years to quickly understand complex software systems, break them (sometimes literally) into component parts and explain what the system does and what I did to it to people that do not necessarily understand the technical complexities.
I can teach most of the skills required to do this.

If another human being can do it, you can do it too, no matter what "it" is, it's just a matter of time and effort expended.
You can be whomever or whatever you want to be, and it might be the more fun the longer you take to decide who you want to be.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can teach contact improvisation, and some meditation techniques.
