I think it's the best way to get the feel of the place I'm travelling to. There's nothing better than sharing a little bit of a person's day to day life in order to come to understand the cultural contexts in which they live. Besides, I like the idea of establishing a solidarity web among people which doesn't involve money exchange.

I'm into a wide range of music styles from Punk Rock, to Jungle, (some) Hip Hop, World Music, Folk, Hardcore, Electronica...

Book wise, I'm currently hooked to the 2nd part of Shantaram, The Mountain Shadow. But I enjoy Fantasy as well as essays like Ken Wilber's for example.
