ABOUT ME

I'm a freethinkin' animal-friendly nature-loving bookworm; work rehab with old folks, & like it a lot; have 4 dogs & 5 cats, who generally stay home for 'big trips' but enjoy van camping every now & then (well, the dogs, at least!); play guitar a bit-- but only til you ask me to stop; love John Cleese & Douglas Adams more than is probably appropriate; kayak with enthusiasm if not with any particular skill; love cabernet, but not on school nights (usually!); and would seriously attempt to court Wendy Davis and/or Jon Stewart, if I weren't a happily married woman.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm hoping to find couches this year, then maybe host next year-- once we have a better house for such purposes.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

So far, have only hosted 1 CS member... but have extensive 'unofficial' experience as both couch host and couch snoozer! I've met some great people through CS, as couch-guest once and various online or in-person hanging out. I look forward to doing so on a more regular basis in the future!

Interests

Lessee... books of nearly all sorts, card games (especially canasta!), dominoes, cocktails (cabernet, mmm), string music (bluegrass fiddle! acoustic guitar! woohoo!), movies, gardening, vegan cooking, hiking, kayaking (basically a wannabee, but it still counts!), travel (duh, right?!), camping, Indian or Thai or Ethiopian or Greek restaurants... ummmm... I'll report back; I'm sure there are vital omissions happening here! but that's a starting point...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Survived single parenthood (including obtainment of graduate degree!) without being institutionalized or (quite) becoming homeless: amazing!

Teach, Learn, Share

Good with cooking, parenting issues, conflict resolution, animal behavior, basic guitar, and basic sign language skills. Need to learn... well, everything else!

Especially interested in learning more about languages other than English (have some basic foundation skills in French, German, Spanish-- but not enough to be coherent). I'm borderline conversationally adequate in ASL (if you don't mind spelling about every third word) and would love the chance to improve my fluency there!
