我为什么加入 Couchsurfing

I joined Couchsurfing at a time in my life when I just wasn’t travelling as much as I could and decided to start hosting ‘to bring the travel to me’.

Since joining the community, I have attended meetings, surfed, and hosted. Not to mention had the chance to meet great people from all around the world.

I am a fixer... I love to connect people/ match them by interest and so far it works really well!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I learned about CS from a good friend of mine. We got to travel to St. Petersburg together (a very spontaneous decission) and voila!!! No place to stay, no one to know... Luckyly she was on CS.

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

We visited a prison for temporary detention with CS friend from Bielarus (pretending to be journalists and having good connections from outside we managed well). We also learned to hitchike!

Met a cellebrity - famous football player in Georgia who has hosted me and my friend via CS. Now he is married to my friend who I used to host and they have a daughter.

Hosted 16 CS fers one night.

Purchased a book written by Pedro who I hosted in my country.

Do not go down this road!

Some Couchsurfers are searching for a host simply just copy and paste requests. This may be ok for saving some time. However, I don’t recommend it.

I once received a request from a Brazilian girl who said. Hi, Michael, I am looking for a host. You speak Portuguese, and I am Brazilian. I can help you practice….

Nothing wrong with that request except I’m Barry and don’t speak Portuguese.
