Overview
About Me
I grew up in South Africa but have lived in the UK since 2000 so I'd say my accent is.. unusual? It's neither UK or Saffer so I'd say I'm a bit of a mutt when it comes to nationality :) I'm pretty loud, colourful and excitable person. I change my hair colour every few months and have tattoos and piercings. One of my favourite sayings is 'a stranger is just a friend you haven't made yet'.. and that's pretty much my life philosophy!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I've recently had a few significant things end in my life, including my job in the corporate world. If this was a movie then I'd have had that whole 'what do I do with my life NOW?!?!?' moments. Which I kinda have. It's made me realise that you only live once, BUT.. if you do it right, then that's enough! So now I'm choosing the unconventional routes. I want to travel as much as I can.. so I've started a TEFL course (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) in the hopes of maybe working in Asia for a bit from next year. That's a start!
Interests
I am a budding photographer and bring my Nikon with me . I am also a voracious reader and writer. I keep a travel diary and one day dream of being published. So meeting new people and hearing their stories is one of my favourite things to do! I also love live music.. the outdoors.. visiting ruins and beautiful, historic architecture.
I love spontaniety! A last minute invite to a local gig.. a weekend away.. a cool place to spend the afternoon with my dogs and a picnic (I have two Jack Russells).. I love any chance to spend my time productively instead of in a routine..

Music, Movies, and Books
One of my favourite books is Pride and Prejudice as the story line and complicated characters blew me away. I could read it over and over. Plus what lady wouldn't want her own Mr. Darcy? As for film, that would have to be 'The Counte of Monte Cristo'.. another period romance so there's definitely a theme here! I'm also a hard-core horror addict so any books and films within that genre are a winner with me! As for music, I really enjoy any sort of rock music.. country.. reggae.. I'm very open minded when it comes to music as I find it beautiful in all forms.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
In November 2014 I slept 'rough' outside with cardboard boxes and a sleeping bag to help promote awareness of homeless-ness in the UK. It was a charity event that I helped to promote and raise money for and the experience itself was both harrowing and incredible. Harrowing to see, feel and experience homeless-ness on a harsh winter's night and incredible to see the turn out of people who both donated and turned up to participate. I met many incredible people through the experience and still help out the charity (Framework) when ever I can.
