About Me
Hi! I'm Tara and I am a wife to Justin and mother of 2 year old Ada and dog mom to Roo, 8 years old. I am an early retired teacher who quit working to be a nomad. My family is planning on crossing the border into Mexico in April and we can't wait to explore and practice our Spanish. I can offer English lessons and childcare in exchange for boarding.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
When I travel somewhere, I get such a better experience when I form relationships with the people and culture of that place. I want to be able to give my daughter the gift of meeting many wonderful people all around the world. I hope Couchsurfing will give me and my family the opportunity to improve our Spanish as well.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Up until recently, I have been balancing two teaching jobs with being a mom to a rambunctious toddler. My husband and I have been able to save up enough money to buy a house with cash by living below our means. Before we get too settled, we want to get to know our neighbor Mexico a little bit better, so here we are!
Teach, Learn, Share
I loved being an English as a Second Language teacher. Teaching language is my passion, there is nothing more fulfilling then being able to see a child learn how to communicate. I hope to be able to continue this work during my adventures. Spanish is my second language and my life-long goal is to become fluent in Spanish, I have a lot to learn!
