About Me

CURRENT MISSION

See the U.S.! Collect National Parks stamps!

ABOUT ME

I love Clemson football and my terrier, Maggy Maye. I love to laugh. I've moved around the U.S. a bit in the last few years. Maybe Denver is home?

PHILOSOPHY

Die with a positive (positive!) karma balance.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I hosted a bunch of people during the year I lived in downtown Savannah, but I've been out of the loop for the last year couple years. I would love to do more surfing and hosting!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Surfed to Shenandoah in October 2012. Beautiful! Met some great people hosting in Savannah! Had a great trip to Tennessee with two hosts in June 2013!

Interests

I enjoy trying new restaurants, exploring new places, hearing ghost stories, and spending time outdoors.

Music, Movies, and Books

I have terrible taste in movies. The only movie I like that anybody else thinks is good is Midnight in Paris. My favorites? Love and Other Drugs, Because I Said So, P.S. I Love You, and Pitch Perfect (I sang in an a cappella group in college). Whatever it is, it has to be funny.

I like music. I don't listen to much metal or...well...I guess that's about it. I like music.

I voraciously tore through children's literature during the year I subbed in Portland, OR. I was especially keen on Out of My Mind and Fish in a Tree. They make a great complement to Wonder and the empathy it can bring to a classroom.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I climbed Mist Trail in Yosemite. Probably the hardest hike of my life. My feet were very angry with me, but it was totally worth it.

For years, I marveled at having "met" the 1500+ year-old tree in Beidler Forest. Sequoia National Park absolutely took my breath away. I sobbed uncontrollably. I'm usually a crier, but this took me totally by surprise.

I had a totally benign run-in with a visitor from the "other side" at the Sorrel-Weed house in Savannah!

Every time I am lucky enough to be present for pregame at a Clemson home game just soothes my soul. I am so fortunate to have ended up at Clemson University and I passionately love being part of the Clemson Family.

No other thing has done as much for my faith as hearing Matthew 6:25-34 proclaimed by believers in New Orleans who had lost everything to Katrina.

Teach, Learn, Share

I quit eating meat in August of 2018, so I've been working on cooking new foods and old foods in new ways. I finished a 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training, but my practice has waned through my moves. I can teach you how to make an atomizer or a flute with a straw. I have lots of elementary science tricks up my sleeves.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Cooking! Yoga! My adorable dog!
