About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Live, in all it's meanings.
ABOUT ME
I (Jeremy) am from Vancouver, Canada. I've been CouchSurfing since 2005 and staying with strangers since way before that. Most of my working days are spent as a senior programmer for Yahoo, and my nights are spent reading anything I can get my hands on, watching movies or hanging out with Tara.
Speaking of Tara, she's awesome. We've been married just about a year and are having a wonderful time with it. She's originally from the USA and has been jumping around the world with me since we met two years ago. Formerly a very sporty girl, she now enjoys yoga, running, skiing and the occasional softball game. Before this adventure, she was a top sales rep for Monster.com (a great job at a bad company, if you ask me)
Many of the places we've found on CS lately seem to be all night parties or college dorms with a free for all. That's not really our style, opting instead for a more relaxed environment where we could have a glass of wine and share stories over dinner... or perhaps a pint or two at the local pub, or check out some local bands (We met at a music festival). We're not stuffy or boring.. just growing up a little. :)
PHILOSOPHY
Jeremy: Some of the best lessons in life are learned from mistakes. Take chances, experience new things when you have the chance, and never forget your friends and family.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
By sharing knowledge, time and friendship with travelers all over the place. We host when we can, surf when we travel and go to meetups when we are in a new city.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
We have used CouchSurfing in a number of ways; From offering up the keys to our apartment; to surfing and joining meetups in countries around the world.
In Budapest, the night started with some live music at a tea house and ended with a birthday party at someone's apartment. You sure can't get that type of experience staying at a stuffy hotel! :D
In Lyon, France we hit up a meetup and ended up making friends that we met at the pub the next night and spent the next four hours exchanging stories in various languages over pints of beer. So much fun!
Interests
We're both into being active (baseball, skiing, hiking, adventures sports, etc) and frequently offset those healthy decisions with eating interesting, delicious food wherever we go. We're also big music fans, having met at a music festival and are always building our music collection. Other than that, the usual books, movies, traveling, languages, cultures and good conversations.
