About Me

Blogger, future marketing genius, masterchef in the making, social traveller. If I could bring my dog-child with me on every adventure, I would.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Why am I on couchsurfing... to travel the road less travelled? My goal is to meet locals, learn about your lifestyle, and build friendships and connections. I grew up travelling like a foreigner and I'd always leave feeling just as much of one. Couchsurfing gives me a unique opportunity to feel like I'm a part of the cities I visit, while I explore them. And now I can finally begin leaving countries feeling a bit more like a local and (better yet) with new friends to return to!

Interests

Science, marketing, environmental issues/innovation, hiking, tennis, dogs, live music, FOOD, languages, and (most of all) cozy socks.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: acoustic/folk/indie/rock -- the paper kites, wild rivers, led zeppelin
Movies: dramas, romcoms, science fiction -- the lake house, leap year, the day after tomorrow
Books: post-apocalyptic or any amazing fiction novels -- the curious incident of the dog in the nighttime, after the ending

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Every day that I get out of the house is an amazing one!

But okay, let's get real... in 2012 I was in Zambia and went to a Rhinoceros Reserve where they have a surveillance employee tracking the herd 24/7. And one of them took us along for their shift for 2 hours or so. We were crouch
-walking in the tall African grasses, following gingerly behind our scout with a rifle flung around his back. It was such a surreal experience though. Getting to follow these almost dinosaurs around in their natural habitat... on foot... and only 10ish metres away.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have a bachelors degree in biology and (fun fact) I once worked at the Toronto Zoo! I can provide more animal facts than you'd probably ever want to hear, and you can bet that I'll have you watching planet earth in no time ;)

I'm on a constant journey to learn languages, it's a slow process. It's such a struggle because I'm not actually very good at picking them up. But I'll be damned if I don't become bilingual before I die. I'm currently intensively working on German, but I'm always interested in improving my Spanish and French.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share with you an abundance of travel stories, personal cooking and baking tips, my love of the outdoors, and hopefully a really great time.

Most importantly if English isn't your first language, I'm more than happy to help you improve. As a blogger I'm great with English, and I would love to (try to) learn your language in return!

The main thing I can offer though is friendship. I'm interested in getting to know you, and I hope that you would want to get to know me! And should you want to visit the city where I live, friends of mine are always welcome :)
