About Me

Hello. I’m Tarang. I’ve been called a writer, videographer, photographer, journalist, musician, digital nomad, solo traveler, and oversharer. All of those tags are apt.

I've worked with hearing-impaired kids in China as a 17-year-old, worked a corporate job in Thailand as a 21-year-old, lived in some of the most isolated parts of the Himalayas, and worked remotely from countries such as Vietnam and Armenia.

Currently, I'm working hard to establish a firm footing in the challenging, labyrinthine world of journalism while also seeing as much of our colourful world as possible.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Traveling has become an inseparable part of my life. But I've come to realise that traveling is a lot more fun when you're sharing your journey with someone. And locals, are quite often the best candidates when it comes to that.

My first time Couchsurfing was in Nanjing, China, as a 17-year-old. It was one of the most wholesome experiences I've ever had. Unfortunately, although I've traveled extensively post that, I haven't had as many Couchsurfing experiences. I'd love to change that now, while also making new friends in the process.

Music, Movies, and Books

I have a huge range when it comes to music choices, and I'll listen to literally anything from Anoushka Shankar to The Strokes, to Sigur Ros, to Kings of Convenience, to Pink Floyd, to Gregory Alan Isakov, to The Paper Kites, to The Dire Straits.

I love watching films on Mubi, because this lets me watch films from across the globe, and learn so much more about their way of living. Some of my all-time favorites are Her, Begin Again, Rang De Basanti, Laurence Anyways, and The 400 Blows.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hitchhiked for 30 days in the Upper Himalayas in India. It was a breathtakingly beautiful and warm experience.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you how to play a tune or two on the ukulele, or a yoga pose or two. I could also teach you how to cook some simple, yet delicious Indian dishes. If you're a writer/journalist interested in writing or the art of pitching editors, I'd happily share my knowledge with you.

I love having meaningful conversations in general, so I'm pretty sure there'll be a lot for both you I to learn and share if we want to :)

What I Can Share with Hosts

In addition to all the above things, you'd be happy to know that I'm an utterly clean person. I'm neurodivergent, so having a cluttered space makes my brain feel cluttered too. Rest assured, should you host me, I'll respect your space, and probably leave it better or cleaner than I found it.

I am also an oversharer, so I can share with you the traumas and triggers and revelations of my life, if you like, hahaha.

I'd also be more than happy to host you if I'm around when you're visiting India! :)

Countries I’ve Visited

Armenia, Cambodia, China, France, Germany, Italy, Nepal, Thailand, United Kingdom, Viet Nam

Countries I’ve Lived In
