About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Sightseeing through Latin America during my time at an NGO in Ecuador

ABOUT ME

Hi! My name is Tari. I currently made a big move to Quito, Ecuador and left New York where I had been working in radio for over 7 years and ran my own vintage fashion clothing business. (Which I am still doing online). Ecuador is the first stop of a 10 month journey working with NGO's helping to build music programs and work with women's coop's on small business development. Focusing on textiles. Guatemala is my next definite destination... in which I hope to make a few stops in other countries in S. America on the way. This journey is 1- fulfilling my intense desire to travel and get a break from the city, and 2- the beginning of a project I hope to build out when I return home to the states.

So obviously, I am curious about the world, the different cultures, sounds, and colors that are the make up of this place. I am currently relearning spanish for the second time and hope to improve my spanish language skills via traveling and meeting new types of people all over latin america. Love learning new slang. Also, am enjoying the interesting conversations I have been having in both English and Spanish.

Other things about me... love music, NPR, sitting in parks and observing sports in foreign languages, LOVE Helado, getting lost in new towns, snowboarding, and attempting to surf. Need the beach in my life on a regular basis.. and can't wait to go the amazon and play with all the animals.

PHILOSOPHY

May your life be a work of art. And may you leave a legacy that will inhabit the hearts of those who follow you.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Currently, I am only available to surf...

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have surfed a few times now that I've been in South America. And have had some of my best experiences in South America because of the relationships I have made through CS. I have been able to really experience different cities as a local and feel like I have made some lifetime friends.

Interests

Discovering new soul pounding music, stargazing, listening to Radiolab and Terry Gross on NPR, being a foodie (although not the cook)... I like trying the food, going to the movies (for the popcorn and full experience), floating in the ocean, hiking, bike rides, camping, I guess most activities outdoors, building fires, talking to strangers in all sorts of places, traveling alone and making new friends, concerts and movies in the park in NYC, eating tacos and dirty margaritas...

A classic favorite: To Kill a Mockingbird, The Firebrand and The First Lady (my bible of two phenomenal women)

MUSIC:
Could go on forever... primarily all sorts of rock from classic, folk, some indie, 90's (one of the best decades), Blues, Jazz, Hip Hop (again 90's was the best) and learning different music from the coast.
