Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I'd say I participate by being the best host/guest that I can and I try to make the promotion of Couchsurfing by introducing people to the system. Why? Because it's the most awesome idea ever!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Where to start? It doesn't really show on my profile, but I've 'couch-surfed' on numerous occasions during a trip in Europe in 2005. All in all, maybe a good 20-25 different experiences and all of them have been excellent. Really gives a whole new meaning to travel. Me and Jeanne (my schwister..) really got along well with all the different people that we met there. Fast-forward to 2008, I'm going away again, this time alone. First, I get a room in Tokyo for a month or so, still hoping to find a job and do my own thing. But, more attracted to full-blown tourism, I decided to tighten up my budget, roll up my sleeves and tour Japan through couchsurfing. Again, around 15-20 people were kind enough to host me in even the remotest places. Still couchsurfing, but definetely a different experience from Europe!

Music, Movies, and Books
Fav. authors include Borges, Dostoievski, Michaux, Miller, Nietzsche, Bukowski, Mishima,Kafka, Ducharme etc. Literature on buddhism, art, philosophy. Hard to say, really. Like electro music (Aphex Twin, Autechre, Boards of Canada, Squarepusher - the classic Warp lineup -, Clark, Luke Vibert, Ceephax Acid Crew, Bogdan Raczinsky, Isan, Bochum Welt, Future Sound of London, Kraftwerk, old school electro), indie rock (Animal Collective, My Bloody Valentine, Devandra Banhart, Cut Copy, Flaming Lips, Fleet Foxes,Hot Chip, Malajube, My Morning Jacket, Wolf Parade), 60s-70s rock (Beatles, Beach Boys, Donovan, Doors, Stones, Zombies, Animals, Love, Yardbirds, King Crimson, Byrds, Gene Clark, Doors, Lightshine), World (Thai Pop, Shankar - father and son, Ghana Soundz, Konono No 1, Charangit Singh, Bombay hits, South American prog, French soft rock), Italo Diso (in small doses!), House (regular and of the acid) kind, Drone (when Ambient won't do), P-Funk Shoegaze, Kraut, Plunderphonics. Monks, Ramases, Tones on Tail, Disco Inferno, Slowdive, Wesley Willis, Chrono Trigger. Satie, Dvorak, Ravel. Moondog. But again, just about anything, as long as its quality. Phil Collins makes me hard. I like 'thinking' movies and 'drinking' movies.
