ABOUT ME

Hello! We are the couple of Kelly McKeon and Tarun Perkins. We are musicians who enjoy cooking, laughing, going on adventures and meeting adventurous people!

Kelly(21): I am the fifth of six kids, and therefore love being in cozy family environments. I love baking delicious sweet things, especially chocolate things. I used to teach ballroom dance but my lifelong passion is classical piano.

Tarun(25): I am a Brit who has expatriated to the U.S. I love to work with kids and teenagers, and have taught highschool-level music production and private lessons. I enjoy writing, bike and scooter riding (anything with 2 wheels) and a really good cup of coffee.

PHILOSOPHY

We enjoy expressing our inner child in any way possible. We believe in the power of laughter and really good chocolate milkshakes.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We were traveling through Europe and after missing our train in Zurich, decided to move to Austin, TX. During these travels we couchsurfed twice, and both times it was an absolutely amazing experience. We're still recovering from the nomadic lifestyle and are looking forward to being able to offer a couch soon ourselves!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Two wonderful experiences: Reinhard let us stay with him for two weeks in his gorgeous home outside of Zurich, Switzerland; Ulf let us stay in his apartment in Austin, Texas and was as generous and saintly a host as any surfer could ever hope for. Both were incredibly positive experiences that have made traveling even more worthwhile.

Interests

Music (listening, seeing, playing and sharing), chocolate, cooking with friends, adventures, games of all kinds, pushing ourselves to be more interesting people.

Music, Movies, and Books

Tarun plays the drums, guitar and bass guitar and has experience with music recording and production. Kelly plays and has studied classical piano since she can remember.
Music we enjoy: Paul Simon, Red Hot Chili Peppers, the Beatles, Belle & Sebastian, Beethoven, Mozart, Chopin, Satie, reggae, funk and anything else delicious.

Books: Winnie the Pooh, the Alchemist, Calvin & Hobbes, historical fiction, Frank Herbert (Dune), Robert Heinlein (Stranger in a Strange Land), Chekhov, e.e. cummings

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Kelly played piano to the backdrop of the River Thames.

Tarun watched lizards run across the ceiling from his baby cradle in India.

We love sharing music, both teaching and learning. We are also happy to help people for whom English is a second language (and hope to improve our linguistic pursuits).
