About Me

CURRENT MISSION

eat a whooole watermelon in one day!

ABOUT ME

Hello Stranger!
I'm Eva, 22 years old and I live in Aachen, Germany. I grew up in another town, but now I go to university in the city that is at the westest point of Germany. (Sorry, but I don't know how to describe it otherwise ;D). Aachen is very beautiful, it is very old and has thermal baths of Roman times. Also, we have a little Dom (like the 'Kölner Dom'), just smaller, but it's got its own little magic :) You can do everything here: go shopping, go to the cinema etc., but the city is small enough to get everywhere by foot.
But the coolest thing about Aachen is: You can go to THREE countries in just one day! I live at the border to the Netherlands and Belgium! We have a place called the 'Dreiländereck' (Three-countries-corner), where you can just walk in circles and walk through 3 countries. Funny, isn't it?

I live in a flat with 2 flatgirls. They study in Aachen, too and they are very lovely.

I am a very open person and I love meeting new people! My dream is to go to every continent and I would love to see how people REALLY live. I would also like to see all the tourist spots, but for me it would be even cooler to be with Natives for one day!
You should come here when its "Karneval", (Feb-March) when we celebrate the beginning of the feasting time. It's great to experience and the festive march passes by my window!

So, don't every hesitate talking to me! I won't turn you down if you don't say mean things to me (or ask me to marry you immediately ;D) and I will be happy to tell you everything about life here and, if you come and surf on my couch, also show you as much as I can =)

PHILOSOPHY

I work in a hospital - on the cancer station.
At some days I get home and feel like life is so unfair. I see people live, I see how their health gets worse, and I see them die.
This makes me want to live my life to the fullest moment, not regretting much. My work has made me realise how nice wet grass feels under your feet and what a great feeling it is to just breathe. If we just sit somewhere in the nature and listen to all the things around us, see them and feel them - You realise what you are living for.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

At the moment I haven't participated, but I am eager to become involved in Couchsurfing by offering my couch and by sharing memories with other Couchsurfers :) The only problem is, that I share my flat with my two flatgirlmates, so I'm not that spontaneous, because I have to check in with them.
In 2012 I had my first Couchsurfing experiences in the US. When I uploaded my travel plans here I never thought there would be so many kind people who want to offer their couch and get to know such a stranger without (yet) any references. It's really incredible that couchsurfers were willing to openheartly welcome me and I think that's what CS should be like!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I went couchsurfing when my friend Clara and we did a roadtrip together through the US. Our first couchsurfing experience was really great! Unfortunately not every CS experience was comfortable for us.
I got really sad that I felt that some CS people started being touchy or really personal. I know I'm staying for free, but it's about sharing stories, experiences and many other things. But a thing I am not willing to share is my body. People who think that just because some stranger girl is staying with them is a reason to getting their needs satisfied don't belong here.
So please don't send me a request if you are just interested in getting some.
Although I have made these experiences I don't want to give up on CS and I hope that I'll make many great memories.

Interests

If you want to make me happy, give me a book. I love books! They are like your own little garden carried in your pocket. When I'm older, I really want to have a little room, only with bookshelves!
I love traveling. I have nearly been in every spot of Europe and in 2012 I fulfilled my dream of going to another continent - America. I had a wonderful time there with inspiring couchsurfers. I work at a hospital and I save all my money for traveling.
Also, I can't live without my friends. I love partying and going out, or just hanging out at somebody's place and talking about everything. With me, you can have deep conversations, but you can also do crazy stuff.

Hiking, Parachuting, Bungee-Jumping, Tiger-cuddling, Scuba-Diving - I'm up for everything! I don't think there is anything exciting that I wouldn't do. I am not afraid to do things, because I really want to have lived and experienced cool things!

Music, Movies, and Books

I love action movies and romance, funny movies, too. And sometimes, if I'm really in the mood, I can watch movies like 'the Notebook'. But then I start crying so much that I can't watch them for at least a month!
I can listen to nearly any music. I love pop and charts, alternative, dance and rock. But I also enjoy listening to classical music, so I really can't specify on that. If you ask me about a singer/band I probably know who they are :)
I love fantasy books, but I also read criminal books and thrillers! Of course, Harry Potter is one of my little treasures!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One amazing trip I have experienced was in Norway/Sweden. I was with a group of people and we only had a few boxes of food and lived with that for 10 days. We had kanoes and paddled from island to island, not meeting a single other living person. We slept in tents and we built our own little oven to bake a cake in - out of sand and stone and water. And then, on some islands, we collected thousands of wild blueberries and ate them in the evening in front of a fire. I will never forget these idyllic moments.

Another trip I won't get the pictures out of my head is when I was cayaking with my dad through 3 countries - Germany - Austria and Czech. We we're out for nearly two months and it was really lovely.

Teach, Learn, Share

Actually, I speak English and German quite well and I can also speak French and a little bit of Dutch.
I can speak Bulgarian, too, but I only learnt it from hearing and my grammar is really twisted and sometimes I speak gibberish ;)
I could teach some guitar chords and the flea walts on the piano :P
