Overview
About Me
I was born and raised in Colorado, and have since lived and worked all over the United States and had a brief stint in Australia. I love traveling and adventure and being outdoors, and I love hearing about other people’s experiences. I work as a botanist, so I basically get to hike around and look at plants for my job. I’ve worked north of the Arctic Circle where we bathed by dumping buckets of lake water over our heads on the sauna porch; I lived in Australia where I scuba dived the Great Barrier Reef and swam with dolphins; I had a commute that involved driving through Bears Ears National Monument every day and our only traffic was deer and cows. In my current position, we often take a helicopter out to remote areas in southern Nevada.
I love to hear other people’s stories and make meaningful connections while I am traveling or hosting.
I’m fully vaxxed and boosted.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Meeting new people and hearing their stories adds so much to a trip. Whether I'm surfing or hosting, it's a significantly more satisfying experience to couch surf than to stay in a hotel!
Interests
I love to try new things, particularly physical activity (especially the adrenaline-incuding kind). I know a lot about some plants and environmental topics. I am definitely interested in getting to know your pets.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music is generally something I enjoy regardless of genre; same goes for books, I'll read pretty much anything! Favorites include "The Emerald Mile," "The Big Burn," and the Way of Kings series. I'm not much of a movie connoisseur, but I'm easily entertained by movies and tend to enjoy watching them.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I lived and worked at a research station north of the Arctic Circle for three weeks! We had a resident family of foxes, a sauna, and a slide on the dock of our Arctic lake.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can be a treasure trove of useless information, but I'm always willing to learn!
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can provide musical entertainment, if you have a piano. Otherwise, I'm good for *fairly* intelligent conversation, and I do like to listen.
