About Me

I've been on Couchsurfing forever (like, since 2000) and have surfed and hosted a bunch, but when I signed in recently I noticed my profile was gone, including my references, my friends, and all my info and photos. It also now says I've only been on here since 2014, which is very frustrating. I'm honestly not sure what to do about it, and I just hope people will give me the benefit of the doubt!

I'm a freelance German-English translator living in Portland, Oregon, USA, and since my work is mobile, I try to take advantage of that and travel as much as I can, visiting friends all over the world and couch surfing. I have also hosted quite a few times while I was living in various places, but lately have mostly hosted traveling tango dancers and friends, so not as much through this website.

I'm a quiet but enthusiastic extrovert, or a people-loving introvert - take your pick. Connections with other people are the most important thing in my life, and I've met so many lovely people while traveling! I'm a respectful guest, and am happy to be either totally independent, or to hang out and get the local tour from you, or cook together, or whatever else, depending on what feels best for you.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

As I said, I've been on here forever (my profile info is totally wrong, but I can't seem to fix it), and I have had so many great couch surfing experiences! I love meeting new people from different countries and cultures, and when traveling I so appreciate getting the local perspective, as opposed to traveling as a tourist (although I do love being a food tourist!!!). I am also on a very low budget, being freelance, so this is the only way I can afford to travel, usually, if I'm not visiting friends (which I also often am).

Music, Movies, and Books

Way too many to name!!!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

So hard to choose! Let's see...

Camping out on a salt pan in the Kalahari desert under millions of stars would definitely be one!

Another would be spending the winter solstice above the Arctic Circle in Finland, amongst all the stars and the aurora borealis....

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you French folk dancing, Argentine tango, or South African gumbo dancing, be an English or German conversation partner. Also I'm good at harmonizing and love singing together!

I want to learn more languages and am excited to learn about your culture, including your food culture!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I have a generally sunny personality and have been told I have great energy. I can cook you US-American pancakes, and am a very enthusisatic adventure sidekick, as well as a very good listener.
