About Me
Hi guys 🖐🏻 Thanks for checking out my profile and considering hosting/ surfing with me.
***I can only host women or couples, unfortunately no solo male travelers at the moment.***
***Best days for hosting are Monday through Thursday. On Friday and Saturday I usually work very late or spend time with my husband so it's pretty unlikely that I will accept couchsurfers. Sunday depends - sometimes I just want to rest but if you're an independent or very interesting traveler I might accept you. 😊***
When I travel I like to stay at people's homes because I am very curious how they live. 😅
I really want to see how people around the world sleep, watch tv or cook in their kitchen. I want to be part of their life for a few days, to grasp the essence of life in that place, at least for a short time while I'm there. I don't think you can really know anything about a place if you stay at hotels and don't talk to people who live there. I am addicted to couchsurfing and to the thrill of discovering new places and meeting new people.
I hope I don't sound weird 😝 I am just very curious and eternally mesmerized by the small things around me.
In case this is important for you: I'm 3 times vaccinated and recovered and so is Marwan, my husband.
PHILOSOPHY
Don't be a consumer, a follower, a sheep in the herd. Think with your own head, follow your own dreams. Live by your values, have integrity.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I have hosted so many people... if I had to say a number, I would say around 300.
And I have surfed with more than 200 people myself.
Interests
My current interests:
Zero waste, vegan and vegetarian food, art and architecture, how to make my money last long enough for this trip 😅.
Other interests:
I love to read books, novels and travel books mostly.
I don't like to do sports, except yoga and swimming. But I love to watch soccer. Whenever I have time I watch champions league and europa league and of course all the big championships.
I'm a fan of Juventus and Real Madrid. 😀
Music, Movies, and Books
Folk music, balkan, gypsy and middle eastern music, house and techno (I'm a 90s girl, if you know euro dance 😍)
All sorts of travel books 😅, Charles Bukowski, Sally Rooney (loved conversations with friends!!) Elena Ferrante (love all her books, she's just amazing)
When I travel, I always take a novel with me which is written by an author of the country that I'm visiting. So I travel to that country literally and figuratively. 😅
I don't really watch movies, but I love crime series and I watch fox crime every day:) (CSI, blue blood, x files, the mentalist...)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Just one?
- Ok... I hitchhiked all over the USA and stayed in one piece.
- I developed fear of flying after a very bad experience taking a small cessna plane. That was 5 years ago and since then flying has become very difficult for me, but I don't want to succumb to my fears, so I do take flights! But it's very scary every time and I'm still scared to cross the Atlantic, although I dream of visiting New York almost every day (yes, I am in love with USA and especially NY 😍)... It's very frustrating when you love traveling as much as I do but you're dead scared to take a long distance flight. 😫
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach you how to travel on a budget, how to hitchhike and how to use couchsurfing (for beginners and for those who say they never find a host - it is always possible to find a host!)
I want to learn how to be less dependent on material stuff. Any stuff at all.
I would love to learn more yoga postures and exercise for my back (I've been having lots of pain in my back lately, especially during my last trip).
What I Can Share with Hosts
To my hosts I can mostly offer a lot of stories, I can share my experiences on CS, hitchhiking, traveling on a budget... please don't ask me to cook for you, I really don't like cooking 🙈.
I will bring chocolate or coffee from Slovenia and especially the coffee is always interesting for my hosts because they don't know turkish coffee. 😊
To my guests I can offer a comfortable, warm and clean place to rest, a shower of course, and hopefully some time to hang out. I like to hang out with my guests but not the whole day as I have also other things to do (like going to work 😏).
