Overview
About Me
I'm a student in Cultural Analysis, which means I get to be overly serious about popular culture and write papers about anything from food to Foucault. I'm also a freelance writer, editor and translator and I love to go to gigs, geek about books and go swimming in (Amsterdam) canals, lakes and other water resevoirs :)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I really like hitchiking to new places and meeting new people and this summer I'm travelling through Europe for several conference talks I have been asked to give. The first one is a conference at the University of Essex on Populism from June 1st to June 4th.

Music, Movies, and Books
I love postpunk, italo disco, twee, garage, shoegaze and electronica. Really enjoy going to shows and streaming soundcloud. (Listening to Maria Minerva, Belle and Sebastian, The Smiths, New Order, Gang of Four a lot at the moment) Don't really have a favourite book but I'm a big fan of American Poetry (especially Frank O' Hara) and David Foster Wallace, also love Chris Kraus and Maggie Nelson :)
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can bring you stroopwafels (they're a really delicious type of Dutch cookies with syrup), or a decent bottle of wine if you're more into alcohol than sweet things :) I can also geek about almost any culture or politics related topic and I've got tons of stories about the music industry (I used to organise band nights and I had my own radio show for a while).
