I am a bubbly, friendly and people-loving 18 year old girl on a gap year, traveling the world with my best friend. We will be backpacking around Europe for the second half of the year starting in Barcelona and making our way up and around in a loop.
I am from the beautiful Cape Town, South Africa where I enjoy local coffee and foods, soccer, hiking, volunteering, camping, photography and cold ocean swims. I hope to see as much of the world as possible, meet and experience new and diverse people and cultures, learn more about myself and grow as a person.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm on couch surfing for two reasons. Firstly, I want to meet as many people as possible, the local the better, and couch surfing offers me this opportunity. I'm hoping to combine camping, hostels and couch surfing in order to make my budget last but also to get as much exposure to the local lifestyle. This is my second reason, being a traveller can get pricey and I am on a tight budget and it would be unrealistic to spend money on a hostel or hotel each night of my travels, but I also want to make a memorable trip! Couch surfing seems like an amazing way to meet new people, make new friends and learn a whole lot more than I would staying alone in a hotel.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love pop music of course, but my other favourites are 60s, golden oldies (80s), early 2000s which bring back memories from my childhood, EDM when I'm in the mood and hip-hop/rap. My absolute favourite movie from my childhood is Cheaper by the Dozen. l love most movies, but marvel movies would have to be up there along with alternative movies from sundance films and the more mainstream rom-coms. My best friend and I love a good book. I enjoy a good love story, preferably futuristic or sci-fi, but a good drama or factitious historic novel are also hard to put down. I am a very creative person and so any sort of cultural exchange or creative activity is always fun for me!

Teach, Learn, Share

I have a passion for sharing experiences and stories with people, with this comes my passion for serving others. I enjoy volunteering and working with children and people from all walks of life. I want to pursue teaching as a career one day. Sayings this, my year of travels is dedicated to learning from others first, and then offering them as much of my knowledge and experiences from my home and culture and way of life. I want my gap year to be shared with all the people I encounter, for each them will become a part of who I am as i venture through this experience. I believe in living in the moment and being joyous.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share my passion for life, my thoughts and experiences of the world as well as my experience of growing up in Africa. I can also share many good laughs and jokes, good conversations and lots of smiles, appreciation for your home and city/country and a general happy vibe. I can share my knowledge of food and photography over a glass of red wine or a coffee and anything in between.
