ABOUT ME

I'm a biologist by my education (so love wildlife and wild landscapes), but have been working for many years as interpreter, translator and English teacher. Now, when in my home city, I also work as a city guide. I'm married and have 3 children, who have already grown up.

Russia's a beautiful and very diverse country, not just St Petersburg and Moscow, but much more places to see and things to do.

Summer is commonly the most popular time to visit St Petersburg, and it might be reasonable because of the beauty of fantastic "white nights" in June and early July. But the city is overcrowded, and is usually extremely hot and stuffy. It's better to go somewhere to the countryside in summer, maybe, to famous parks in the sorroundings.

The best time for visiting museums is definitely low season, autumn or winter, when their halls are nearly empty. And you'll also have a chance to enjoy real "SPb spirit", with its dim outlines, visible through the mist in the permanent twilight, described in famous novels by Dostoevsky :>) Thus, welcome any time!
