About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Road trip with my German Shepherd puppy Kaia to find a new place to live and relax in nature.
ABOUT ME
I quit my job as an ER nurse at the end of March to travel and figure out what I want to do next. I’m scoping out new places to live and exploring national parks along the way. I am traveling with my German Shepherd puppy. Her name is Kaia and she is 8 months old. She is super friendly and would be accompanying me anywhere I stay. For now, the plan is to just live in my car. However, I figure it might be worth it to find a place to sleep and shower every few days. I haven’t participated in the CS community in the last few years, but I’m excited to get back into it.
PHILOSOPHY
"The world is a book and those who do not travel read only one page." Although I got a late start to traveling, I've made up for a lot of lost time in the last few years. I am hoping to get to see as much of this world as I can in my lifetime and share these experiences with anybody interested in listening.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I surf, I host and when I can't host, (and have the time), I try to show surfers my favorite places in the DC metropolitan area. This area has a lot more to offer than just monuments and museums. I try to introduce surfers to areas of interest behind the typical DC experience.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
My surfing experience, thus far, was in Maui, Hawaii. I stayed with two incredible guys and, between the two of them, I got to see the entire island. I've hosted a handful of guys and loved getting to learn about their different cultures and outlooks on life. I've also had the opportunity to show surfers around the DC area when my couch was unavailable.
Interests
I love art (painting, drawing, mix-media and photography). I also love being outside and seeing the beauty our natural world has to offer. I am quite fond of animals and have a cat and puppy of my own. I am a sucker for the beach and take beach trips more frequently than I should admit. I am interested in theology, although I would self identify as agnostic. I find the teachings of Buddhism to be most closely aligned with my personal beliefs, but love to hear others perspectives. I like working with underserved populations and strongly believe that humans should be treated with respect and dignity even if they haven't made all the right choices.

Music, Movies, and Books
This is kinda hard to sum up. I guess for movies I like comedy, documentaries, independent films, short films and an embarrassing amount of animated films (I mean who doesn't like the Lion King?). As for music, I love alternative rock, some classic rock, reggae and rap. I love psychology based books that make you look at things from a different angle (like Malcolm Gladwell's series). However, I also love a good sci fi book that gives you an escape from reality (I really enjoyed Ready Player One). When it comes to tv shows, Games of Thrones still claims my #1 spot. I also love Superstore, Girls, Last Week Tonight, and the Handmaids Tale.
Teach, Learn, Share
You can learn something from anyone. Everyone has something of value to bring to the table, you just have to be willing to hear it.
