About Me

---
Profile inactive for now due to CS choosing to paywall the website after neglecting the userbase and ignoring us for years. Maybe if you had listened we would not be in this situation where I don't think I want to pay even the very small fee since I think CS has failed its core user base. Find me on BeWelcome as DigitalTA or on Trustroots as Digital_TA instead. Turku monthly meets which will now be generic "hospitality network meets" will continue on an alternative platform once the pandemic allows us to do so - I will not be working for free for CS either anymore. Can't promise I'll be hosting them forever so this info is subject to change but hopefully someone will when I can't anymore. I don't know if CS will allow me to keep access to editing this text without paying but this is the situation as of May 2020

PHILOSOPHY

Richness in knowledge, regardless of the subject, is the ultimate thing to have, as that is something you can share without it being taken away from you. I never expect that I'll know everything, but for now "anything" will suffice :)
Religion: I dislike what I call "organized religion". And by that I mean imposing one's beliefs forcefully or by coercion on another. It is one of the worst things that has happened to this world. Believe what you will or don't but don't try to convert others.
As for beliefs, however, I think, from not only personal experience but from everything I've seen, heard, experienced and just figured out, that it is unlikely there is any single deity. A collection of deities both good and evil is more likely but then which world religion is the correct one if any? The most likely case, though, is that none exist. Lately I've been talking to people about beliefs in energy flows of people and spirits. I've yet to decide whether there is any truth to this so if you've got some insight to it, I'd love to hear it.

As for daily life, I try not to stress too much of anything. Everything will eventually work out or if not then it won't. I was lucky enough to be able to mold my life for the most part in the general direction I want it to go and am quite happy for that.
Something I've yet to decide between being a blessing or a curse is that I am, even if just slightly, lacking in emotion, rather seeing things how they are, not how I feel about them. Blessing in that it helps me to see the world a bit differently than most people, but a curse in that I can't really relate to people who are passionate about something. I don't know if that makes sense to anyone reading this, but I can't really elaborate as I don't really know how to put a state of mind into words.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I go to meetings, parties, whatever is available. Also tried to create a CS community in and around Rauma while living there. Moved away since but it seems to have at least stuck :)
Gave a newspaper interview about CS in june 2010
And of course I surf and host.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've been to several camps, hosted people from several places, been to many meetings and surfed a bit too. Overall experience has been and I expect will continue to be excellent.

Interests

I enjoy music, both live and recorded, but especially at small venues at which its possible to chat with the band afterwards.
I also like to meet all kinds of people, especially those from far away as they often have the most interesting stories to tell, even if for them it is just daily life. I've had an interest in computers from a young age, something that I'm glad has gotten me a steady job in this current economy. It also gives me a topic everyone seems to have some questions in, which is awesome as then I'll never be without someone to talk to.
Related to that, It always makes me feel a bit happier when I know I've been helpful to someone. Or rather, that they have probably become more happy in the process.
I find knowing the english language to be probably one of the if not the greatest skill I've ever learned. Seeing everything I can accomplish with knowing it, The world would just seem so limited if suddenly I'd be limited to just finnish.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love metal music in most of its forms, but if that is not available, most things will suffice. "Forced" music like what you'll get from big labels... music with no real creativity involved will however get no love from me. The best kind for me I'd say is something where everything from excellent talent with instruments and lyrics that could be described as nothing short of poetic come together. Another thing I always enjoy listening to is when someone really knows their way around a guitar's strings. In that case, lyrics are not really even needed.
As for movies, Well I don't really watch that many, I guess the company I watch movies in is what is most important. If I have to define the best genre's, I'd go for Action/Adventure.
I used to read fantasy books but haven't read many recently, just lost interest I guess.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

1 month interrail trip through Europe

Teach, Learn, Share

I get told a lot that I know everything of computers. While that is not exactly true, I would say I know enough to solve the problems I've encountered this far. I have some knowledge from school and more from experience. If you, yes you reading this profile have any questions, Please ask them. If I don't know the answer, then I'll find out - and know yet one more answer.
Which brings me to my general philosophy also listed above. I think knowing everything would be awesome, but any little bit is nice. Learning more is also the best experience when and if I can help others learn more in the process.
Furthermore, I like to know a little bit (or more) of just about anything. So if you know something and have time to spare, any chat about just about anything is interesting for me.
