About Me

CURRENT MISSION

My current mission is to go on adventures, create stories worth telling, and find the the things that truly bring me joy.

ABOUT ME

I believe in people, all people. Everyone has something about them that is absolutely singularly incredible. (Several people have several somethings, sometimes even more!) Knowing that everyone is awesome, it's all a matter of learning the stories of what they've done, or hearing the passion for what they do.

I don't see the point in not enjoying life. There is so much amazing stuff out there.

I love learning. A ridiculously large percentage of my sentences begin with the words "I read this article...".

PHILOSOPHY

Happiness is a lifestyle. It's a choice, it's a way of living, and it's something I am willing to dedicate a great deal of my time to, and that decision has done nothing but reward me in the most beautiful and unexpected ways that I could never have imagined.

A lot of people say they should have been born in a different decade "I should have been born in the 1950's. I rock a poodle skirt!"
I should have been born in the 14th century, because I would be a *rocking awesome* bard.

I also have a tendency to teach everyone how to play ukulele.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have had an amazing time Couchsurfing, I have met the most incredible people and had some truly amazing experiences. Couchsurfing was a wonderful resource for me when I was traveling and now that I'm a bit more settled, I'm excited for the chance to host folks.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've had wonderful experiences with couchsurfing. Whether it's been making new friends or just ending up with a roof over my head, I've never had anything less than positive happen to me. It's awesome.

Interests

I like doing things I haven't tried before.

I like exploring (read: getting lost) in places I've never been and conversations with people whose opinions differ from mine.

I like playing music with people and improving on my guitar.

I like cooking things, especially sweet things.

I also like dancing in the rain during thunderstorms.

Music, Movies, and Books

My favorite authors are Neil Gaiman and Mary Roach.

I will never outgrow my enjoyment of "young adult" novels.

I have a weakness for live music; it has such a unique energy to it.

I am an unabashed, full-tilt feminist fangirl. This means that I love things (like terrible T.V. and movies) with an unihibited joy, but I also can't get through 3 minutes without cringing about the stereotypes that are used as acceptable storytelling tools. It's all about the cognitive dissonance, baby!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have danced in the rain, wished on falling stars, and spent a night in the Grand Canyon without a tent. It was beautiful and cold. Very, very cold.
I once broke into the Badlands National Park, so I could howl at the moon.
I had the night watch on a sailboat, when a pod of dolphins decided to come play in the moonlight.

(And apparently all of my amazing things happen on the full moon. I promise I'm not nocturnal.)

Teach, Learn, Share

I think that one of the most important things that people can share is stories. Stories are words that get passed down from generation to generation until they feel warm and comfortable like nights in front of the fire.

I can also get you started on the ukulele. Seriously. It's a beautiful instrument.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am a font of obscure and oddly specific wisdom. I know songs and have stories, and I love to learn.

I have a lot of assorted experience picked up from my travels, and I'm known to be a bit handy.

If I know something you'd like to learn, I'd love to teach as much as I can. If there's things to be done or projects to be had, I'm always willing to lend a hand.
