About Me
Life's a banquet, and most poor suckers are starving to death...
ABOUT ME
I'm a corporate event planner for a company in Columbia, SC. I love my job because it allows me to travel to new locations when setting up events. I enjoy meeting new people and doing new things. Hopefully, once my student loans are paid off, I'll have more time and available funds for travel, but right now, I'll take what I can get.
As for personality, I am definitely more unraveled, but I still like to go out and have fun. I tend to delight in humor. I like laughing at myself, no matter the situation.
PHILOSOPHY
Currently, I'm trying to live more for the moment. I want to find my own joie de vivre, but it's hard because I tend to get caught up in my work.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I participate mainly by surfing, but I have hosted as well. I love CouchSurfing, since it allows me to meet new people and to immerse myself in their cultures and lifestyles. Overall, CS has stepped up the experience of traveling to a completely different level. I never thought it was possible to have so much fun while traveling around the world.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
While attending graduate school at USC, I received a grant to study abroad for 2 weeks, fully paid. However, I decided to both go early and stay later; which is where couch surfing really paid off. Through the kindness of others, I was able to backpack around Europe while learning their cultures. I must say that it was fantastic!
CouchSurfing allowed me to do something that I've always dreamed of doing, except, it made my experience far better than I had even imagined
Interests
I'm interested in a vast array of different things. I like the basic traveler's interests--trying new things, seeing new places, meeting new people; however, as for more personal interests, I enjoy cooking, reading, kayaking, and spelunking (cave exploring).
Let me just say now, that I'm currently infatuated with spelunking, but I like anything outdoorsy. Other than that, I'm very obsessed with music. I enjoy all varieties, and would love to expand my knowledge even more.

Music, Movies, and Books
I'm a huge bibliophile. Ever since I was little, I started collecting and reading books. It's to the extent now that my room is practically a library with a bed in it. For the most part, I'll read any book that looks remotely interesting; however, since the first book I ever collected was a book of Finnish fairy-tales, I tend to be more interested in fantasy.
As for music, as I've said, I really do enjoy it all. When I hear music, my soul reacts. I'm completely consumed by it. Depending on the music, I could be uplifted, soothed, or relaxed. If its a happy song, my whole day perks up. If its a sad song, don't be surprised to find me crying.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
One amazing thing that I've done is visited ancient ruins in Tulum, Mexico. It currently holds the record for most interesting place I've ever visited. Not only did I get to experience the ancient Mayan culture, but Tulum overlooked the most beautiful beach I've ever seen. Given the chance, I'd pack my bags and go back right now.
I've also backpacked all of Europe while couch surfing. I visited Ireland, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, France, Spain, England, Belgium, the Netherlands, Denmark, Germany, and the Czech Republic. And I must say, that with couch surfing, I made tons of friends and connections in each place. It was amazing!
