About Me

CURRENT MISSION

My only goal is just to be.

ABOUT ME

I really love when people put three facts in this section and it gives you a full snapshot of their personality. So here's my attempt at that:

Frogs are my favorite animal.
I can live off of pizza, beer and coffee.
I wish I read books more often.

Unfortunately that's probably not enough to say "hey! i'm not a psycho, let me stay in your house!" So for those who need a bit more, here's my life story:
I grew up in NJ and was a dancer for most of my life, ballet, jazz, tap etc. I'm a supporter of the arts, mainly live performance and photography. I studied communications for four years at Ithaca College. After graduation I worked at a Japanese art gallery in New York City but shortly realized that it wasn't fulfilling enough. I've recently gone back to school to become a radiation therapist in order to directly help people.
I'm a very relaxed person, extremely easy-going but still full of energy. I really enjoy being near the ocean, but doing anything outdoors brings me peace of mind. When the weather is nice I love hiking, kayaking and bonfires. I prefer small gatherings or getting together with a couple of close friends at a local bar.
I used to travel more often than I do now, I suppose the whole "real life" thing caught up to me, but I've decided to get back on this website to help inspire a few new trips in the nearby future.

PHILOSOPHY

There are so many things I would love to put here, but I'll keep it simple.

1. Pay it forward.

2. "If you never did, you should, these things are fun, and fun is good" -Dr. Seuss

3. "Things turn out best for those that make the best of the way things turn out" -a fortune cookie

4. "We must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them." -John F. Kennedy

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've been able to stay with five different couch surfers, as well as a few unofficial CSers who were simply friends of friends that we had never met before.

We always took our hosts out to dinner or breakfast and enjoyed getting to know them for the short amount of time we stayed in each place.

Right now I can't have any guests, but I'd love to meet up with anyone/help them around North Jersey or NYC.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

In the summer of 2009 I was on a cross country road trip with one of my best friends, we ended up seeing 29 states over the course of a month - even though we only planned out the first 3 days. Needless to say, we were often in a pinch to find a place to stay and we would have had a much more difficult and expensive trip if it wasn't for this awesome site.

Music, Movies, and Books

I pretty much like anything with a good beat, good lyrics, or something that I can sing along to,but what's usually playing on my ipod is:
Alanis Morisette, Sheryl Crow, Carole King, Counting Crows, Dispatch, The Beatles, John Mayer, Michael Buble, the Red Hot Chili Peppers...and plenty more.

I don't read books as much as I should, but my favorites are:
The Great Gatsby, On the Road, Shantaram, A Walk Across America, Three Cups of Tea, Mountains Beyond Mountains, Your Inner Fish, Prince of Tides, and Animal Vegetable Miracle.

Favorite Movies:
Food Inc, The Cove, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Garden State, Cars, Across the Universe, For the Love of Water, Titanic, and You've Got Mail.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I think one of my favorite things I've ever done was when I got my S.C.U.B.A. diving license. I've only been in one body of water other than a pool, it happened to be a lake in upstate NY during the winter. Not as glamorous as say, the great barrier reef might be, but the ability to breathe underwater for an extended period of time was absolutely inCREDible.

Teach, Learn, Share

To be honest, I'm one of those people that knows a little about a lot. The one thing I have a lot of knowledge in is dancing...so if you ever wanted to take a ballet class I can teach you some stuff!

Countries I’ve Visited
