About Me
I'm a Brit. Please, it's not that bad...but let's keep this between you and me.
I've just spent the last year living in Perth, Australia, having moved there to experience life on the other side of the world.
I'm super into health and fitness (though don't preach it, so don't worry!) and love to be as active as possible. I also love to learn and have a good amount of energy such that I'm always doing something: whether it's teaching English and/or Film or exploring the world, you won't find me slouched in front of the TV (...too often).
I love to travel, to read, to make and to cook. Most of all, I love to experience new things.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I want to come to Berlin to learn German in the most intense, immersive way possible. As I don't know anyone in the city, yet, Couchsurfing will allow me to get to know more people quicker and, more importantly, share my new life experiences with them and, hopefully, share theirs in turn :)
Interests
Travel is a big deal for me, and it never fails to amaze me just how lucky we are in Europe to have such convenience when it comes to travelling around what I believe to be the best continent on the planet. I'm one to just pack a small bag and hop on a flight to spend the weekend somewhere new. It's a bit more difficult to do that in Australia!
My background is in media (I taught film at Imperial College London and once upon a time worked for a distribution company in central London) and I love the movie and the power of that medium. If you're happy to geek out with me or discuss cinema every so often, we'll get on great. But I also love storytelling in general. I've always got a couple of books on the go.
The sports and fitness thing for me is an extension/consequence of loving life and being able to live it, and appreciate it, fully. It's not a vanity thing, but merely a healthy respect of the fact that maintaining food health means being able to do more things more comfortably.
I'm not a clubber or party-animal. I like a good wine and conversation, but mostly I enjoy good coffee and a nice walk and talk.

Music, Movies, and Books
For about 5 years I played guitar in a local indie rock band, so rock is kind of my jam by default. But good music knows no boundaries and I enjoy most of it. I like nothing more than discovering something new. So I might tell you some stalwart favourites: Black Keys, Them Crooked Vultures, QOTSA, ALT-J. But I might also recommend Andrew Bird, or Tones and I, or DMA's.
The book that impressed me most is Mark Z Danielewski's House of Leaves - a work of genius ergodic literature. I also enjoy straight up populist fiction like the Jack Reacher series or the thrillers of Gregg Hurwitz. One for everyone's shelf: The Devil in White City; a fantastic slice of history that weaves together the lives of Daniel Burnham and Dr. H Holmes as they crossed paths at the 1893 Chicago World's Fair.
As for films and television series, I like those with substance or that try something refreshing. Hereditary really proved that mainstream horror could be genuine whilst The Terror and Chernobyl both stood out as television events of the year. Oh, I also love what both Disney and Marvel are doing right now: intelligent, long term/long form storytelling on an epic scale.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Made lifelong friends with people on the other side of the world!
I've also jumped out of a plane solo, bungee jumped from a crane and, unwittingly found my spirit animal in a rabbit...
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach you how to play a few chords on the guitar,
