About Me

Hi! I'm Taylor, a marine scientist focused on supporting the livelihoods of small-scale fishing communities. I run a non-profit called Sea Collective, which has taken me to beautiful fishing villages around the world. I am currently pursuing a PhD to understand how we can advocate for sea cucumber fishers in East Africa.

I love all types of adventure - especially adventures that involve food! I love to try to find delicious local food wherever I am. When I'm not eating or studying, I love to go surfing, scuba diving and rock climbing.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My roommate and I used to host Couchsurfers when we were in college, and it was such a fantastic experience! I loved meeting travelers with interesting stories. I will soon be travelling though Africa, and I am hoping to meet locals and get great tips on what to do in the towns I'll be visiting! I love hearing stories and I hope to make some new friends.

Music, Movies, and Books

I have recently gotten into Afrobeats and Senegalese Jazz!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I recently sailed from southern Brazil to the Caribbean as part of a team sailing from pole to pole with zero emissions to tell the stories of climate change from the perspective of a son inheriting the planet from his father.

Rode a 20cc scooter 400km through southern Maharashstra, India, during a self-created mangrove conservation scavenger hunt.

Spontaneously climbed Kilimanjaro.

Created a research experiment to remove 10,000 poisonous starfish from a reef in the Philippines with the help of an army of traditional fishermen.

Sunk a ship in Belize, and then removed unexploded dynamite from a sunken ship in Belize.

Gave a TEDx Talk!

What I Can Share with Hosts
