About Me

Well, I'm on the verge of being 24. I recently graduated with a degree in anthropology. My hopes and aspirations are to work with environmental anthropology and further sustainable development efforts and conservation practices all throughout the world. I have traveled numerous times, working as a volunteer or intern on separate conservation based projects. I love the color green and renewable, recyclable ways of living. I also enjoy working with animals, and I love science. I grew up in a small town in Michigan in the U.S. on my family's farm. I'm an adventure junkie, and I just love learning new things of all kinds and meeting new people in the process.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm on couch surfing because I love to travel in non-tourist ways, where I can get a true feel for local cultures. I want to make new friends and acquire connections all over the globe, while giving back.

Interests

My interest include playing soccer, learning languages, writing, reading, photography, travel, hiking, and anything adventurous worth a rush. I love the feeling that comes with conquering a fear. While action sports terrify me, I also love them.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like all sorts of music, classic rock is one of my favorites, but I can be content listening to anything, even Christmas music. Country music brings me back to my hometown memories, theres nothing more nostalgic for me than a cold beer and the sounds of an old acoustic guitar telling stories about life on a backroad. Movies and books- I'm a huge Harry Potter fan. Fight Club is one of my favorite reads, along with Graham Green's, The Heart of the Matter. I like psychological thrillers as well as historic documents, ie diaries or journals, poetry, etc. Theres a true value in being able to read what an actual person once said I believe. Movies, I enjoy action movies and comedies. I like movies that offer a real insight into things.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I lived with a remote village family in the rainforest of Costa Rica where I got to be a part of a project that worked towards protecting and rebuilding the forest through ecological studies and research, tree nursery setup and maintanance, and education.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have a minor in Spanish that I can tutor in, as well as english. I've learned to make some awesome jewlery during my travels and I love to cook. I have stories about places near and far that I'm always up for sharing about the crazy animals I've been lucky enough to work with, including elephants, monkeys, and penguins. Mostly though, I can offer a true person with true goodness in her heart, looking to impact and connect with the world in a way that lasts longer than any trip ever will.

What I Can Share with Hosts
