Présentation
À propos de moi
My name is Taylor, I'm 27 years old and I'm from the United States. I'm new to Couchsurfing but I am quiet, easy-going and respectful of other peoples spaces and cultures. A few years ago, I left the US and began traveling and living abroad, teaching and doing photography to support myself. I had never left the US until I was 25 but had traveled in the States extensively. I have been to about 20 of the states and every Rocky Mountain state.
I was born and raised in the western state of Colorado, known for its skiing, hiking and outdoor activities. I lived in San Diego, California for a brief time and then New York City for 3 years until I left the US. In New York I worked in a famous fine dining restaurant. I was able to eat some of the best food and drink some of the best wine in the world and meet some amazing people when I was here, definitely a good experience.
Now, I have been living in South East Asia since 2017, spending most of my time in Thailand but traveling often and spending long periods in other countries. I recently moved to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. I work as an English teacher online and use this to live abroad and travel. I love history, culture, sociology and philosophy. When I travel I enjoy engaging with local people and learning about the places I am staying and visiting.
Pourquoi je suis sur Couchsurfing
I want to get closer and more intimate with the places I visit. I want to escape the bubble of other travelers and have a genuine experience in a new place.

Morceaux de musique, films et livres
MUSIC:
I enjoy music of all kinds and my taste often changes. It's too broad to name specific artists here are some favorite genres are punk, metal, reggae, lo-fi, house and folk music. But really, pretty much anything but contemporary pop.
BOOKS:
Non-Fiction-
I love philosophy, sociology and history.
I enjoy critical theory and other contemporary philosophy: Zizek, Fisher, Chomsky, Foucault, West, Fanon.
I enjoy old philosophy as well. Buddhist as well as Greek philosophy and myths: Sophocles, Diogenes, Marcus Aurelius and the other Stoics. I'm particularly interested in dialectics.
Probably the most important insight I have gained by studying philosophy is this:
You will never achieve happiness through direct pursuit. Happiness is a by-product of experiences that fulfill you and give you value and meaning.
Fiction: I like classical literature. One of the best classes I ever took was a classical literature course.
My favorite author is probably George Orwell. I particularly enjoy his older works like Homage to Catalonia, Keep the Aspidistra Flying and Down and Out in Paris and London
FILM:
I enjoy cinema and am somewhat of a film buff. Some favorite films of mine are:
Bladerunner
There Will be Blood
2001: A Space Odyssey
Dr. Strangelove
Blue Velvet
Ikiru
Alien
The Revenant
Apocalypse Now
Pulp Fiction
