About Me

I'm a young profession, while at least trying to be. I'm currently working at a local non-profit by day and as a waitress by night. I enjoy a hike every now and again, drinking local/craft beers, and riding by bike. I realize all those things sound generic, but I guess that's who I am. I love to eat, whether that's eating out or eat my own home cooked food, or snacking on cheese fries from the restaurant I work at, I don't care. My personality is very sarcastic, just a warning, I'm trying to work on it, but I just can't.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have some extra space and why not share it?! Plus, I hope to get some travel assistance when I need it. Also I guess it's cool to meet new people.

Interests

I won't say the stranger cliche of.... hiking, the outdoors, going to the gym, blah blah blah. But really I'm pretty into anything and will give most things a try. I'm not an gourmet chef so don't expect high quality food, but I can make a mean grilled cheese, actually a mean anything as long as it doesn't have beef* or pork* in it.

*Beef and pork are the two most unsustainable meats (there's my environmental plug)

Music, Movies, and Books

Music-- whatever Pandora decides to play for me that day. But mostly in the very broad category of "alternative"

Movies-- the other day I cried watching a chick flick, its embarrassing.

Books-- I did read twilight, fifty shades of grey, gone girl, and all those other books that were pretty poorly written but some how got loads of attention. But if you look at my kindle its pretty full of environmentalist books (blah), an occasional murder/detective book, or something totally random that was free.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

How about One Amazing Thing I'm GOING TO DO?....

Quit my corporation job and spent 3 months living and working in Kenya doing HIV testing and counseling. I fully intended to go back and do it some more.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can probably teach you nothing that will help you achieve your future goals, but I can teach you how to have fun in this little town of Roanoke, so that has to count for something.

What I Can Share with Hosts

My sarcasm, maybe a beer or two, and all the restaurants/breweries/actives that are cool in Roanoke.

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Canada, Czech Republic, Hungary, Kenya, South Korea, Turkey, Uganda

Countries I’ve Lived In

Kenya, United States
