About Me

Hey!

I'm a language-learner, adventurer, soon to embark on the Camino de Santiago in Northern Spain. I'm currently living in Salt Lake City, Utah. I'm always open to connecting with travelers, showing local spots, and making friends from around the world. That said, I'm not always open right off the jump to hosting strangers prior to meeting them. Let's connect in-person first. (:

I've lived in five countries, U.S., UK (Edinburgh, Scotland), Taiwan, Giorgia (Tbilisi), and Israel, and I plan to do more of this. Future polyglot, I want to be more diligent about practicing my languages when I meet fun strangers from around the world. I am currently fluent in English and Chinese (Mandarin) and am practicing Spanish, French, and Portuguese for my upcoming Europe trip.

Best travel story: While studying at the University of Edinburgh, I had my childhood best friend fly out to visit (her first international travel experience). We booked flights to Venice for the weekend, but our tickets got canceled due to poor weather. The night before, we booked new tickets to Gran Canaria, Spain. With zero plan and zero Spanish, we showed up in the evening in a very native (Spanish-only) part of the island, booked an Airbnb that was a cave with a bed on a mountain an hour out of the city, and somehow managed to find it in the middle of the night after wandering around on the side of this mountain for about an hour. After knocking and knocking at the front gates to the property, we hopped the fence and threw pebbles at the windows of the main building on the property before someone realized and helped us down to our cave bedroom. After our first hitchhiking and nude beach experiences, and warm cava brut on the beach in Tufia, the trip was a resounding success. (:

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've only hosted a few people due to my roommate's preferences, but next year, I'd love to host more. I also love to meet locals and other travelers when I travel. I would also love to throw a dinner party with a bunch of strangers in an Airbnb on a future travel! There's nothing I love more than connecting with interesting humans from around the world.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: R&B, Hip Hop, and Jazz and other music. Love to sing and to make music with others.

Movies:

Books: (LOVE them)
The Courage to Be Disliked (dive into Adlerian Psychology; it will change your life)
I recently sped-red Thus Spake Zarathustra; great book, though my comprehension was very low due to this being my first time attempting speed-reading. :')
Bhagavad Gita (Amazing)
A New Earth - Eckhart Tolle
Surrender Experiment - Michael Singer (I'm going to visit the meditation temple he built in this story in a couple of days!)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Lived in a temple in the mountains of Taiwan for a week practicing to be a Buddhist monk. (:

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you to mountain bike or snowboard!! Or how to meditate?
I would love to learn languages, new sports/activities, local gems, local customs, or whatever else!
I can share some of my many many travel mistakes I've made when booking or planning for trips too quickly. I can share some musical inspiration if you play/have an instrument and want to make some music.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Laughs, just a generally good time, some amazing cheesecake skills, stories, new experiences, and good chat. Gardening help, a new book (whichever I am carrying at the time), cleaning/other help. I'm a big acts of service person. A cafe/people-watching experience. While I'm an extrovert, I can't extrovert all day long, so some conversations baked in with some reading/writing/gardening/group experiences or other activities is my JAM. (:

A place to stay in my current town of residence; this is Salt Lake City, UT, USA at the moment! Or potentially Duluth, MN, USA.

Countries I’ve Visited

Brazil, Canada, China, France, Georgia, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Mexico, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Taiwan

Countries I’ve Lived In

Georgia, Israel, Taiwan, United Kingdom, United States
