I am 22 years old and am new to Couchsurfing but have used Warmshowers a lot. Warmshowers is a lot like Couchsurfing but specifically for bike touring. I am an alumni of Warren Wilson College in Asheville, North Carolina, and am currently transitioning from my post-grad part-time job life into my brand new marriage to a man in the Army. Since he hasn't been long-term stationed anywhere yet, I am unable to move to be with him, but since I've mostly quit my jobs, I have some stalling to do while he completes training. I plan to use Couchsurfing for a bit of travel during this time.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

In May of last year, immediately following graduation, I embarked on a cross country bike tour across the northern part of the United States, and though I mostly camped, I was completely solo and loved having the fallback plan of a Couchsurfing host or a WarmShowers host to help me feel more secure. I loved the people I met through Warmshowers!

Interests

Right now I'm pretty intensely obsessed with road biking, but I've always been more of a swimmer. I have completed my fourteenth and final year on a swim team last year and now work for Jimmy John's doing bike delivery in downtown Asheville.

I love reading long books and writing short stories. I love mathematics. I like to be outside and go for long hikes and bikes on cold days. I'm a big fan of coffee and green tea alike.

My biggest interest, I guess, is in seeing the world and hearing stories from everyone I meet. Someday I hope to be a tutor and work one-on-one with all types of learners!

Music, Movies, and Books

My musical taste is a pretty diverse collection of cool, indie stuff (Sylvan Esso, Penny and Sparrow, Shakey Graves) and guilty pleasures (Taylor Swift, namely). Really, I like most music that showcases some talent or emotion or catchiness.
I'm really terribly bad at watching movies, and as a result, I haven't seen that many. However, I'm a pretty big Tom Hanks fan and have seen most of his movies.
I'll just list some authors that I love: Rivka Galchen, JK Rowling, Dave Eggers, Aimee Bender, Karen Russell, Adam Levin. Most stories published in and by McSweeney's.
