About Me

Moved to Minneapolis for law school after 4 years in China.

ABOUT ME

After 4 years in China, my life has changed so much. I studied Chinese, started a business, and taught an assortment of subjects. Oh, and got married. We decided to move back to the states this fall, and instead of working an extra few months before going back, we quit our jobs, packed our life into tiny little china post boxes and sea freighted everything back home. Now we are on our half-year'ish travel around asia (primarily).

PHILOSOPHY

Everyone has something to learn from everyone else in the world, whether they know it or not. My most fulfilling experiences in life are when I travel- as I love talking with new people from new countries and cultures. I tend to travel alone or in very small groups, because I always meet more people this way.

Im an absolute adrenaline junky. If its sounds exiting, ive probably either done it or am just waiting for the opportunity to do it.

At the same time, Im a very driven and dedicated person. My success is very important to me, and I dont take this lightly-from monday to friday when school is in session that is. When work is done, I love a good party : )

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I love both hosting and surfing! Either way I always meet great people and have a great time!

I think its a great way to get a special experience in a new area (by surfing), and a great way to introduce your city or lifestyle to some great new friends (as a host)!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have been involved pretty intensively since going overseas. In Wuhan, I hosted almost every request I got , and in Beijing, I have done the best I can to host whenever possible.

Love hosting, surfing, and local meetings. Some of my best friends are from cs. Actually- two of the 4 of my best men were originally people I hosted on cs.

Interests

Travel, learning new languages, meeting new people, extreme sports, hiking, camping, cars, motorcycles, trying new foods in new locations.

My current goal is to become (more) fluent in Mandarin Chinese and somehow get used to living in the Western world again.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love classic rock and metal and have recently been dabbling in some electronic music as well. I listen to pretty much everything but American country music.

I love any kind of intense movie, especially if it is historically, culturally, or politically relevant. Otherwise, I enjoy most tarintino movies.

Classic novels are my favorite, especially russian literature.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The less explored temples at Angkor Wat in Cambodia are probably the most amazing and profound experience I've ever had.

Today, I jumped off the first bunjee jumping site in the world (outside of Queenstown, New Zealand) which was pretty cool too.

Teach, Learn, Share

Im pretty good with anything dealing with electronics. I can rip apart pretty much any computer or laptop and do upgrades, repairs, or tune ups.

I have a great interest in politics (global or american), international economic developement, travel, goood beers, biology (particularly molecular biology or ecology), and the sciences in general.

Im more than welcome to help anyone I stay with or stays with me. I would probably be best at travel advice (Southeast Asia, China, or the United States in particular), fixing computers, or university subject tutoring, but Ill do the best of my abilities with anything.

Countries I’ve Visited

Australia, Austria, Cambodia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Laos, Malaysia, Mexico, Myanmar, Netherlands, New Zealand, Singapore, South Korea, Switzerland, Thailand, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, Viet Nam

Countries I’ve Lived In
