About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Support my young family, and instill the value of culture in my children, and encourage them to travel farther and longer than I ever have.
ABOUT ME
Tyler Tomaszewski
I have traveled most of the United States throughout my life via vacations (AZ,CA,FL,Virgin Isles,PA,NY,MA) youth group missions (DC,TN,KY,VA), also playing shows and touring with my band through the midwest and south(MN,WI,IL,IN,IA,NE,KS,AR,MO,OK). In the Summer of '11 I went on a journey with one of my close friends to Iceland, Scotland, and Ireland.
I always enjoy meeting new people, and learning all about them. I have a very open mind and respectfulness towards peoples' beliefs, backgrounds, and circumstances (personal, religious, and for the most part political...)
I have a number of artistic projects that I am proud to be or to have been a part of including:
"Cutting Room Floor" had been my baby from 2004-2012. I wrote every word and piece of music for it. We released "Dark Days" in 2009 and released a little-known EP "Remnants" in August of 2011.
I joined "Shaggy VS The Tanktops" in 2008 as the second guitarist and ended up being a co-vocalist as well. We released "The Art of Pop and Lock" LP in August 2010 and plan to record another LP sometime in the future, but we are presently innactive.
"Frankie Merder and The Bleeders" started as a joke for Halloween 2010. We smeared make-up and fake blood over our faces, booked two shows on Halloween weekend, and people just keep asking us to play...Idk...lol...It's a lot of fun!
------
I still play in a band with former members of Cutting Room Floor called "The Dregs of Bower City." However I just perform to have fun and make a little extra money on the weekends.
My main focus is now on getting my Environmental Sciences: Geosciences B.S. and get a job as a geoscientist/GIS technician in the realm of renewable energy. Hopefully this will afford me the opportunity to relocate to fun and beautiful places (CO,CA, Iceland...who knows?)
PHILOSOPHY
I live to conquer my goals...Now that I am in the latter half of my twenties I feel even more of a yearning to explore and experience new people, places and things (nouns)...I'm not a fan of greed or monetary/materialistic success...I find success in doing what I love, and knowing that others enjoy it...and ALWAYS be true to YOURSELF! How can anyone else trust you if you lie to yourself?
Also...GET RAD or DIE TRYIN'!!!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I live in a house with my girlfriend, Sara, and we would love to host!!!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Where do I start!? This organization has changed my life. I surfed through Iceland, Scotland, and Ireland. I met a myriad of different people from all over the world. I learned so much about different cultures, lifestyles, and philosophies. I've had a million laughs with new friends and made bonds with some amazing people all because of CS.
Interests
I love great food, and I love tasting new wines, beers, and whiskeys! I am a musician so obviously I love to play music, and see shows. I have a respect and love of many styles and genres, but I usually prefer LOUD AND FAST!!lol I do appreciate all kinds of music though.
Sara and I fancy ourselves pretty excellent practitioners of the culinary arts. We enjoy everything from baking falafel, cooking curries (lovely international food section at our grocer), and grilling good old WI sausages (top-notch butcher shop about 20 minutes down the road). We ALWAYS keep it authentic, creative, or creatively authentic. ;)

Music, Movies, and Books
I love watching movies but only when its impossible to enjoy the outdoors or go have a pint with a friend.
I bring out what I call the "GNAR" collection in late August and gear up for autumn and winter. It consists of mostly Horror, Psychological Thrillers, really just badass movies. haha. I also enjoy good comedies, but I usually stick to movies that seem to have an important feel or message. I enjoy "substance", but still love to try out Old B-movies once in a while even though I am pretty sure they're going to be horrible.haha.(every once in a while you get lucky and find genious)
From February until about September I usually just watch short sketch comedies in between working and socializing. (which isn't very much time)
But I have been watching these when I get home at night.
TV- Kids in the Hall, MTV's The State, Upright Citizen's Brigade, Stella, Reno 911 and Crank Yankers.
(Reminds me of growing up in the 90's)
In my car CD player right now: NOFX, The Pimps, (old)Muse, We Were Promised Jetpacks, The Chariot, Dillinger Four.
(This does change from time to time)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
one?...really? hahah
-The Golden Circle and BEYOND in Iceland (breath-taking)
-Whitewater rafting in Tennessee
-Sunset in the Ozark Mountains (highly under-rated)
-Sharing the stage with amazing acts on a regular basis
-Performed in front of 1300 people
-Aurora Borealis in Wisconsin (very rare)
...I try to do and see amazing things everyday...lol
Teach, Learn, Share
I don't give music lessons anymore...haha...
But I will answer any question anyone has to ask.
I'm not too experienced in anything other than entertainment. However, I am studying a number of different interesting disciplines, and am more than happy to discuss what I've learned about our wonderfully curious planet.
