About Me

CURRENT MISSION

self-perfection

ABOUT ME

Sometimes I'm excited to an infinite degree and starving for underground dance parties and foods on the barbeque! And those other times im quiet and contemplative. And I'm usually a little awkward

I love to play soccer even though im an all-around average athlete

I sleep on my floor, next to my bed

and I dont like to wear socks.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

To me, CS is all about connecting people who ordinarily would never meet each other. It's building community and creating connections in a way that is usually obstructed by our modern life

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I surfed in buenos aires for a few nights and it was glorious! And now i'm getting involved with the Harrisburg CS community

Interests

Tea! Any and all teas. (except for the fruity gingerapplepeachnectar black tea infusions that americans usually like)

I love to hike....mountains are my home

I'm fascinated by intelligence and the meaning of words and communication...I mean, I jibberjabber sounds through my flabby lips and when you hear those sounds, you dice them up into intelligible words which are part of the structure of a greater meaning-> the sentence <-(which is more than the lonely words) and, i mean....wow. We are strange creatures.

I think that telepathy would be a lot easier.

That's my long way of saying that I want to learn more languages. Spanish is the first that I want to learn

Music, Movies, and Books

I have read 'On the Road' by jack kerouac (as well as many of his other books) a few too many times. I tend to read and re-read certain books like 'Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man', 'Siddhartha', and 'Down and Out in Paris and London'

Lately I'm listening to bjork, nick cave and the bad seeds, beirut, the new pornographers, and a radio show called 'Radiolab'

I don't see many movies but casablanca is surely one of the greatest I've seen!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Once, my friends Tao, Tom and I were visiting tea fields on a lake near Suzhou, China. (maybe it's Lake Tai?) And for one night we slept in an inn on the big island in this lake.

We ate dinner that night very late and at the only open restuarant in the town. But we weren't alone in the restaurant; in the other room was a group of school teachers who were traveling together. And after they finished their meal, they set up a karaoke machine and began singing and dancing to songs from decades ago.

Now Tom and I aren't shy people, especially not when we were traveling. Armed with an immunity to social impropriety that foreigners in a strange country seem to have, we joined in with their songs and dances.

We couldn't read the lyrics, but we were a big hit. Actually, we were such a big hit that someone woke up husband and wife teachers who were award-winning tango dancers. Tao danced with the husband and i was swept away by the rhythm and embrace of the wife.

And that's how the seed of my trip to argentina was planted, dancing a tango with a teacher on an island in eastern china

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach some things about chinese teas. And about espresso.
