About Me

I am 31 years old and live in Vienna, Austria together with my girlfriend Sarah. I work as a self-employed filmmaker, video producer and journalist. Currently I am preparing a bicycle tour along the Pacific Coast from Eureka, CA to Tijuana, MX.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Initially I joined Couchsurfing almost 10 years ago. I had a lot of positive encounters in many different countries with Couchsurfing hosts and guests, met great people and got to see amazing places. But after my studies I used Couchsurfing less and less, for reasons I can't really nail down. A while ago I thought about this and found out that I do miss the experience of Couchsurfing; it changes the way you travel and what you experience in a very positive way. So, it's time for another Couchsurfing journey (mixed with camping, motels, etc.). I'll be travelling the US West Coast by bike in October and November 2016 and hope to get to meet some of you guys!

Interests

filming music videos for the website http://www.theyshootmusic.com, sometimes filming other stuff as well; finished my journalism studies in 2010 in vienna; currently doing the international master programme Urban Studies and moving between Brussels, Vienna, Copenhagen and Madrid; worked for some newspapers and magazines - writing mostly about pop culture, music, films... i like bike tours, exploring cities, going out, reading books, watching films, listening to music (see below), lying in parks, sitting in cafés reading newspapers, thunderstorms, trains and turtles.

Music, Movies, and Books

movies: i especially like absurd stories like "being john malkovich", things that make you laugh not because someone said something funny but a situation is so grotesque. like the simpsons, in a way.
music: i am co-running the videoblog http://www.theyshootmusic.com, so first of all i like the music we captured there. beyond that: radioheads album "kid a" developed my musical interests from only guitar-driven music to guitar-driven music, electronics and actually anything else that has some kind of intensity and can surprise me, make me laugh, think, gives me the creeps, whatever. makes me feel something. bands like: radiohead, bright eyes, belle & sebastian, caribou, two gallants, notwist, hot chip, arcade fire, autechre ...
books: again, i like absurd stories, not so much science fiction, though: kafka, melville, thomas glavinic, oscar wilde, ...
