About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Live a simple life in Guatemala

ABOUT ME

After 6 months traveling around Mexico and the US on a bike, and 6 months around Europe for a combined total of about 60,000 miles, I bought a piece of land by Lake Peten Itza, in Northern Guatemala. Happy to receive travelers!

I like to enjoy life as much as I can, I am quite a normal girl in a fantastic world, I have been lucky most of the time, enough to experience fabulous things, and am a very positive person. I really do my best to help people I like, I care a lot, but I don´t like people that take advantage of others' kindness.
I was born in Paris, but i am not quite the French cliché according to most people, I have lived in Guatemala, Barcelona, London and Casablanca. I like to go out and explore the world, I left the 9-5 in 2009, to work on my own projects and travel around the rest of the time.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I went round the world for one year, mostly hitch hiking, so I surfed lots of couches, floors, nice beds, truck tops (yes, on top of the truck) and so on... now that I have settled down I am mostly a host.
I have been on CS since 2005 and HC before that, and really enjoy the true community's philosophy. I never look for just a free bed or host people that are.
In my big flat in Guatemala we had LOTS of people ALL the time, but it got a little too much as we couldn't take care of everyone as we would have liked to, so I try to have a better relationship with people that do interest me, and spend more time with them. Quality against quantity...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

got lost in Burma in one of the most rural region forbidden to tourists without a phrasebook
arrived at Macchu Picchu on a rainy december 25th morning, just me and my mom for one hour
woke up freezing in the Sahara and watched the sun rise
learned to speak like a Guatemalan girl with no accent
hitch hiked 3000km in 2 days
rode my bicycle to mexico, 1500km without a single spare piece to fix it, and made it all the way without any tech pb
spent 6 weeks in remote africa eating only rice and veggies and drinking 40 degrees hot water, lost 10kg without getting malaria
caught a little clown fish with my bare hands (and released it of course, poor little nemo his mom was already freaking out!)
dove a wreck and by night
helicopter ride above Iguazu falls
went from sea level to almost 6000meters high in 2 days and didn´t get sick
walked 2 meters from erupting volcano´s lava
traveled for one year on 10 dollars a day and still managed to dive
saw pinguins in new zealand
sailed with dolphins in the Canary Islands
hiked the Atlas mountains in Morocco during Ramadan, while fasting
got my camera stolen in the medina of Marrakech and managed to get the police to look for it, find it and give it back to me
rode my bicycle day and night in Casablanca's traffic jam
