About Me

I'm currently working a seasonal forester position out of Shawno Wi and am headed out to Oregon in May to work on a fire Crew- unfortunately this means i can't host for the time being (but do hit me up for the best camping spots in WI and the UP.

I hike on the weekends when I can, and love grilling food and eating it. I have a B.s. in Forest Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and spent some time at Colorado State University as well.

I spent a summer working for the Department of Agriculture just outside of Big Bend Texas, I couch surfed and hosted there, and want to continue as it was a great experience. I love nature, and being active, live music, bonfires, friends, gardening, and more generally being a part of active communities.

I try to find enjoyment in everything, especially things that generally aren't much fun.(embodying the concepts from "when things fall apart") I guess that's why i enjoy getting caught in thunderstorms while hiking/camping, why i like doing dishes, enjoy digging holes, and waking up at 6AM after drinking.

I've traveled quite a bit and love sharing stories- next on the list to visit is Brazil and Argentina, and a return to Finland.

I have a very open mind and am accepting of people. I've worked with people from many different walks of life

Philosophy:
Risk it. More often than not it's worth the biscuit.
I'm in it for adventure.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To ask the questions, learn your story and share some smiles. I've found that living with and befriending locals is the most rewarding type of traveling and opens opportunists to learn and share that you wont get in a hostel.

FOR SURFERS: [Unfortunately I Cannot host right now] I offer my humble abode, currently that means you have your pick between a purple pull out futon, some comfy couches, or a blow up mattress. I offer my friendship and nights of laughter. I offer beer to weary travelers, as well as stories and advice on which trails to hike and how to scare off bears.

FOR HOSTS: I offer my genuine self, stories from my life, lessons I've learned, friendship, and drinks if we go out. I offer a hiking partner and an explorer. I'm responsible, clean, self reliant, and know how busy people can get. I can stay out of your hair and find my own adventure if need be. I'm always down to try new things.

Music, Movies, and Books

Grateful Dead, Cage the Elephant, Lady Saw, Bon Iver, MØ.
I listen to pretty much everything, but have been really into MØ and Elliphant recently. I worked in Texas for a couple months, which brought me closer to country and I've become fond of Marty Robbins and Kenny Rodgers as well.

Rom Coms and Chick Flics all day baybay.

I'm currently working my way through the lord of the rings series. Dune is my favorite book that I've ever read. coming a close second is Da Vinci Code.

I was a helpx volunteer for an old British couple in Spain last year and read a lot of Gerald Seymor in my down time.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In 2013 my boss invited me to a Lakota sweat lodge after his grandfather and chief of the Lakota Nation passed away. In the dark hot makeshift lodge, with sage infused steam entering my lungs is the closest I've ever been to my personal god.

I ran a food sovereignty farm on Pine Ridge reservation for a season, where i taught, and learned a lot.

Teach, Learn, Share

I will tech you about sustainable agriculture, forestry, juggling, cheese, Wisconsin beers, Wisconsin plants, and anything else I might know. I've got a degree in digging and will gladly help out with any tree or yard work.

I always love to learn.

I'd love to share new experiences.
