About Me

Originally I come from a small village in South West Germany, during my undergrad studies I lived in Mainz, and Malmö. I travelled a bit, visited China for an internship at Time Out Magazine with my two best friends. My last big move brought me to Manchester in 2012 in order to study for my MA. The city totally put me under its spell and I decided to stay.

I share a house with my boyfriend George and our friend Luca. During the week I work at Manchester Metropolitan University as part-time Bookbinding Technician. I also run a small business for indie publications called Team Trident Press at Partisan Collective, a social justice space, arts and music venue. My passion project is NOUS magazine which is released more or less once a year. The magazine is focussing on mind culture which includes themes round society, mental health, and philosophy. I also organise As We Are Away festival promoting the same issues.

I enjoy connecting with free spirits crossing my path, going to the pub, visit galleries and exhibitions, and if I have enough money left I also enjoy travelling a lot.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love hosting nice people and enjoy showing people round. Mostly I have been hosting other people at my shared flat in Mainz but a couple of times I had the chance to be a surfer myself.

I stayed in Jönköping. In Summer 2011 Fredrik hosted me during Malmö Festivalen and made my wish of an old home town visit come true.

Couchsurfing is all about trust. I like the non-monetary philosophy.

Interests

Travelling is one of my big passions. Unfortunately, at the moment I am very tied up with my projects but if I get some time off I would go straight to Melbourne, Budapest or Vienna.

Music, Movies, and Books

I create a podcast with music sung in the mother tongue, exploring the German and Scandinavian musicscape. www.mixcloud.com/betweentheseas
Other than that only the Smiths and Joy Division can make me truly happy.
I think my favourite film is One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest but this is challenged weekly by my friend Ezra's selection of films during Cultivate Film Club we but on in a local pub.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I walked the Great Wall in China with my two best friends, I almost saw the Aurora Borealis in Swedish then again in Iceland. I keep returning to beautiful Garda Lake. Once I said hello to Thees Uhlmann in a bar in Berlin.

Teach, Learn, Share

When staying in Manchester I can show you some hidden gems, the best pub and breakfast place in town and you can get some obligatory language classes in German and Greek if you like.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can teach you how to dance a proper waltz and how to bake a vegan cake.
