About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I am a PhD Student. I travel a lot for research, but also have my own pad in Bloomington. Searching out exciting things and people

ABOUT ME

I am a friendly American who feels very at home in Britain, where I lived for a year and a half doing PhD research. I love gardening and cooking, and walking in the countryside, with a good pint to celebrate. Especially of cider and perry and elderflower wine. I've worked in orchards, vineyards, wineries, and cider farms.

PHILOSOPHY

Everyone has a story, and listening is a gift.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I often travel for research work and look for places to stay during these ventures. I may be able to host someone if I am at my home.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have couch-surfed only a little, but I have been WWOOfing quite a bit as well and have loved it.

Interests

I love trying new foods, especially local cheeses. I'd really like to learn to play the melodeon, but I haven't found the time yet. For the moment, I love listening to folk music. I'd also like to learn to dance flamenco and tango, and I can salsa pretty well with a good partner. Walking, gardening, and reading. And just sitting back with friends and chatting!

Music, Movies, and Books

Cold Comfort Farm, Lhasa de Sela, George Eliot.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Recently, I cylced around the Aran Islands with my friend Gabi - a pilgrimage to the place that inspired folklorist and playwright John Millington Synge. Always interesting to go seek out the places that inspire the life of the mind. It was a miraculously sunny day to wander over a stony island in the Atlantic.

Teach, Learn, Share

I've spent a lot of time thinking about Folklore and Anthropology. Always happy to discuss!
