ABOUT ME Hello! I'm Theo. My home base is Salt Lake, Utah but I have been spending an increasing amount of time volunteering, meditating and living at Vipassana meditation centers in Idaho, Washington and Canada. I plan to keep visiting these centers which are located all around the world.

I have lived in 9 different states in the US and visited about 45. The last two places I lived were San Francisco and Portland, Oregon, both of which I really enjoyed for different reasons. My job allowed me to live in different cities for a few months at a time and allows lots of free time to travel at the end of contracts which is a huge blessing.

I may have a spot available for travelers however I am mostly a traveler these days. I hope to be a be a super host one day!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I began Couchsurfing with my sister on a trip to Japan in 2011. It began as a way to save money from the high cost of lodging there. We were looking for lodging over New Year celebrations and were told it would be impossible as New Year is a very special family time in Japan. After a few nights staying in his apartment in Tokyo, an incredible Couchsurfer, Hama, invited us to his family home and we celebrated traditional Japanese New Year, playing games and stuffing ourselves with the best food with his family. This was one of the most amazing experiences of my life. Their kindness and hospitality toward us, strangers, was astonishing. It was quickly apparent that Couchsurfing is about so much more than saving money.

I would rather couchsurf than stay in a 5-star hotel for free. Building connections with other humans is one of the greatest gifts we have.
