About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I'm always up for networking and meeting new people. I haven't travelled much outside of the US, but I would like to change that. I don't get much vacation time, but I hope to make the most of it. Hope to see you soon!

ABOUT ME

Well, for starters, my name is Thomas Lin and I am pushing 30 years (29 to be exact).

I have lived in big cities and small towns. I pride myself on being able to blend in with any crowd and not let any cultural/social difference hinder a friendship.

I'm usually busy with work, but I enjoy my time off when I get it. I'm easily entertained so nothing beats a bad horror movie, a minor league sporting event or going to the grocery store at midnight. Occasionally though, I think it's important to indulge myself, so every so often, I'd like to be able to dress up for a night out on the town.

But usually, I'm a laid back person who enjoys a good, cold beer and sushi or Bar-B-Q.

PHILOSOPHY

"You can't win all the time, but you can't lose forever either."

I can't really remember where I heard it, but it has resonated with me. It tells me that you have to try no matter the possible consequences. You never know what'll happen til you try. You may lose some, but you'll eventually come out winning.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I think the internet has completely revolutionized the way we socialize with each other. I used to be critical that it encouraged anti-social behavior by taking away any physical human interaction, but couchsurfing seems like a way for strangers to meet face-to-face and break the ice. Hope to contribute in any way I can.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

A friend of mine signed up a few weeks ago, and had some couch surfers stay with him within days. They were very cool and were eager to be shown around. It was actually very inspiring and convinced me to consider couchsurfing.

Interests

I like movies, video games, good food & drinks, photojournalism, watching sports and occasionally playing them.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've just recently come back from Taiwan (before I joined couchsurfing). It was great to be back after 11 years. It has opened my eyes up and has demonstrated the importance of visiting other cultures, as well as getting back to my roots. And it helps to see family I haven't even known about for the last 25 years.
