Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I try to open my home and mind to people different from myself. As young child I was told to be afraid of Russians. My first surfer was Russian and he was perfect gentleman,so all the things i was told was wrong. :)
I hope to meet other people from another culture to show my way of life and learn about other cultures.
Even if i am not your host i am glad to help with your plans while in Memphis.
The name of my house is Winter Hills but locally known as the house of yes.
I have noticed the surfers who come relax and get comfortable have the best time. It is a loosely defined word but i like people who can chill.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have host and found it to be a great experience. Many surfers also became friends. I hope to be as lucky each time. As your host i say you may go your own way or spend time together there arent any restrictions. I live near a entertainment district and you may want to walk there, Also a city park with old trees some 200 years old and older. the theatre district is close. From my very first surfer Sasha the kickass Russian to my last surfer Mariano the intellect I have been very lucky to become friends with my surfers.
Here is a list of the places I have taken my surfers at their request

there is Al Greens church where he often sings a few songs and give a great sermons . It depends on hsi schedule but If he is there is @1030 am on sundays only.
I could highly recommend Wild Bills It a true late 1980 style jukejoint with real Memphis blues. But it s very late night place opening often at 10pm or later Also often on the weekend nights. It s rough neighborhood but i know the doormen and they will watch our backs.
The Lamplighter A true beer joint old school you can still smoke inside and listen to anything from Lou Reed to Lorretta Lynn on the jukebox.
The Crossroads near Clarksdale Mississippi. where the forks in the road cross and rober Johnson sold his soul to the Devil many surfers have wanted to see that. there are also sharecroppers shacks you can rent for the night to sleep. they only look old they have been renovated with modern things disguised as old objects. Clarksdale is about an 90 minute drive each way.
The Hollywood Cafe its in Tunica about an hour drive but it in the Mark Cohen song "Walking in Memphis". the Hollywood and Clarkdsale are close together so its done in the same trip.

Interests

people they are all like different everyone with their own story. I wait tables and often I wonder jsut what happened to get these two or four people at this table at this time. It like bird watching I find it fascinating . I really enjoying hearing accounts of peoples revolutions where power changes overnight

Currently the most amazing thing i have evsr seen is in nature. the buttercups are still blooming and now the Azelsas are starting to bloom. Its crazy and amazing.

Teach, Learn, Share

Saw Elvis in repose
I am very anxious to learn about other cultures. Especially the cold war communist countries, I want to know more about that time of history and how it really was experienced. . If anyone remembers the Berlin Wall . Often the surfers are too young to remember these events but they have first hand stories from relatives.
And i know enough stories to hold up my end of the conversation.

If you believe that you can feel a persons energy please pick me as host and we will bounce some vibes back and forth.
