Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Live in the UK in a year or two or six months
ABOUT ME
I am a curious, flexible, tolerant, resilient individual who has lived over 25 years abroad; included working as a volunteer in Haiti and Brazil.
I enjoy people of all ways of life, all origins and ethnical and religious backgrounds.
I am a teacher who cannot conceive to ever cease to learn not just about academics but about the inhabitants of this planet.
I am trying to find a teaching position in the UK.
PHILOSOPHY
Every human on his planet has a role to play and deserves to be treated as human. Perhaps because I have spent several years in the developing world, I am at times embarassed to be an occidental.
I remain with a strong faith in humanity though
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
You are welcome home if you dont mind the mess. I have a huge derelict old home which I try to fix when I have time.
The comfort is limited as far as heat and hot water are concerned but there are plenty of space for people who want to explore Vézelay and its surroundings.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I have had positive experience a few years ago but my account was inactive and got closed.

Music, Movies, and Books
I have embarassing classical taste: literature, history or books on psychology or education. Love of classical music and the opera. I favour old movies but my favourite movies are: Emir Kusturica's Le Temps des Gitans, François Truffaut's Jules et Jim, Arsenic and Old Lace.
When I am exhausted, I enjoy watching a Miss Marple series, I have all of thel, or Jeeves and Wooster.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Picking up living children abandoned in fields.
Coming to an orphanage every day in Haiti to find more orphans, naked, on the ground, covered with flies and soaking in their own diarrhea. This sounds awful; it was not, but it taught me how little we could do presently because of politics and it made me realise what it meant to be a white occidental coming from an upper class family
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach the MBTI, a good psychometric tool that entitles to understand oneself and the other.
I also speak several foreign languages.
I can share stories, particularly of Haiti but I enjoy being a listener too.
