About Me

Hi!

I'm Juho. I'm allways spending too much time on the internet. Not reading enough books. Usually a bit late. I'm trying to understand the world and to not make it any worse. I love jogging by the riverside or walking from one place to another while listening to music.

I believe that the most important things in life are to eat and sleep properly and to have some time just for yourself every now and then. When that's done, everything's going to be OK.

Note to self: know yourself.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I really like the idea. Meeting new people, sharing a moment and let's face it - travel cheap. I surfed twice in the UK and both times it was superb. :) I hosted surfers for a year and half in Turku. Hopefully the people I host have as good time as I had when I was surfing!

Interests

Music, film photography, movies, people (nice), hula hoops, cool coats, barefoot shoes, libraries, second hand stores, CDs, sleeping, eating.

Music, Movies, and Books

Tove Jansson's Moomin books. Highly recommended to everyone!

Tadeusz Borowski's We were in Auschwitz was one of the life-changing books for me. I love reading band biographies and all things music related. Since I started my studies old books have become really fascinating, especially if they are about old beliefs.

I've read quite a lot comics. Jeffrey Brown's been my favourite for couple of years, other good ones are Javier de Isusi, Guy Delisle, and Marjane Satrapi.

Movies... I've seen dozens of movies lately. The Red Balloon just might be my favourite. I really, really liked Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Studio Ghibli's films are brilliant stuff. The movie I saw the other night was alright, too.

I listen mostly British rock/pop, Oasis and everything beyond: The Stone Roses, The La's, Kasabian, Coldplay, Gorillaz, Badly Drawn Boy... You name it.

These are also fantastic bands/artists:
Elliott Smith, Carpenters, KT Tunstall, The Beach Boys, Rainbow, random dubstep, Ozric Tentacles, Iron Maiden, The Kinks, System Of A Down, Rihanna, Green Day, Magenta Skycode, Trivium, Blonde Redhead, Simon & Garfunkel...
If it sounds good, it's good.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Many things are amazing (such as Lapland in the wintertime) but from what I've done the fact that I've made it so far and so well tops the list.

Teach, Learn, Share

What can I teach? Well I know some random tricks like how to make an annoying high-pitched clap with your hands and how to make a hand flute. Of course I can also teach you some Finnish, for example words that are useful (low fat milk) or sound funny (ice cream cone). Other than that I hope I can teach you something with a real meaning. But we'll see what happens when you arrive!

What I'd like to learn? Feel free to teach me anything that makes you happy or you'd imagine would make me happy. Or just come and surf.

What I Can Share with Hosts

.... a cup of tea? Chocolate? A mud cake? Or how about laying down on the sofa and having some music on while chatting?

Share a moment, meet the person!
