About Me

Hi! I'm Teo, come from Switzerland and a political sciences student who loves travel and nature. I consider myself a very easygoing and curious guy who knows he doesn't have the universal truth, and thus is willing to learn from others and share with them. I am looking forward to meeting you!

Currently on a trip from Switzerland to Indonesia, by landway with my car!
You can get a glimpse of it on Insta if you'd like : teo.through.the.world

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I try to go by the saying "Make your life an artwork. The world is both the canvas and the public. Paint it, make it wonder and make yourself marvel." Just made it up but whatever. Couchsurfing would definitely be part of this.

Interests

Whether we share interests or not is the least of my concerns, I'll be happy to discover what you love :)

But if you love to go on treks for days or weeks being self sufficient, to spend nights playing the hundreds of board games you own or to leave your home on a whim to travel without money nor plan... then I guess we could talk hours without noticing.

  • board games

Music, Movies, and Books

Music : Lot of movie soundtracks (Hans Zimmer, Joe Hisaishi, Ennio Morricone, Yann Tiersen, anime, etc.), prog rock, seventies, eighties, country, folk, jazz, ambiance, classical and much more.

Books : David Graeber, Rutger Bregman, Yuval Noah Harari, Jean-Philippe Jaworski, Patrick Rothfuss, George Martin, Lovecraft, Stephen King, Anthony Doerr, Hermann Hesse, Nietzsche, etc.

Movies : Korean thriller is the way. "Old boy", "Memories of murder", "I saw the Devil", etc. I also love Miyazaki's movies, Kitano (to stay in Japan) and mid-nineties/2000's production in general (Fight Club, Snatch, Usual Suspects, Pulp fiction, Reservoir Dogs, Into the Wild, The wind that shakes the barley...)

Board games and roleplay (yes, I consider it is a form of art in some ways) : The Resistance, Rising Sun, Cult, Netrunner, Dominion, Diplomacy, Not Alone, Codename, Shadow Amsterdam, Detective Club, Call of Cthulhu (RP)...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Here are a few random ones :

Doing a one week hitchhiking contest with some friends and couchsurfers (who obviously became friends) not using a single penny, climbing cranes and bathing naked in public fountains.

Or going in Colombia's backcountry for three months, alone, and not speaking a word of spanish beforehand. Oh, did I mention I was 16 at the time?

Or spending a whole day in some camping toilets - not what you think - before climbing the Eyjafjallajökull volcano (Laugavegur trail, Iceland). You should ask me to explain this one...

Or becoming viral against my will on TikTok (I don't even have the bloody app) for traditional dancing in a Kurdish wedding. Even police officers would recognize me in neighbouring countries 😅

Or doing a trans-eurasian roadtrip to Indonesia... well that's the current adventure :)

Teach, Learn, Share

TEACHING :
I'm a kind of "Jack of all trades" (and master of none... *sob*) so there aren't many things I feel confident I'd be worth teaching extensively (maybe French). However, I love to share what I know so if you'd like an introduction to any of my hobbies (camping, fishing, archery, hitchhiking, korean cinema, modern board games, roleplay, writing, riddles, shrooms, rawing, poker, utopias, watercolor, etc.) it would be my pleasure to tell/show/teach you everything I know about it.

LEARNING :
Everything is good to learn, but if I had to give priorities (based on interest) I'd say that currently I really want to learn some artistic skills, especially about dancing, drawing, painting and woodworking. Also super interested about experiences of community life (ecovillages and the likes) and traditional/rural skills (like smithing, carpentry or permaculture). And always ready for spiritual discoveries.

SHARING
We can share a beer (or many), a meal, a ride, a roof and so on but these are just pretexts to share what is really important : time, ideas, knowledge and feelings. I'm usually happy and I try my best to share it around !

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can cook, wash, clean, party, tell stories, listen to yours, teach french and give you a hand whenever you need !
