About Me

My name is Teodora, I'm 20 years old and I am currently studying Japanese and English in Bucharest. After I'll major in Japanese I'll try to get a scholarship for a Master's Degree in Japan, which is why I'll concentrate on my studies the next couple of years. My biggest dream is to become a writer but that won't happen very soon so a much more feasible dream would be to own a second-hand book shop (yes, none of these have anything to do with Japanese but I still love this language).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've travelled a lot through my own country and recently been to Greece (first time abroad) and I was really overwhelmed by the people, the culture, the language...I kind of wanted to feel that more often. Being a student and still living off my parent's money, I don't really have the means to travel as much as I'd love to, so couchsurfing is the best opportunity to save some money. But probably the best part is that I can actually get to know people, which I think is even more important than just sight-seeing . Because in the end people and the experiences they can offer you are what helps you to grow as a person.

Interests

I am really interested in Japanese modern literature (Banana Yoshimoto, Murakami Haruki etc.) and I am determined to do research on some of the topics it has to offer.

Music, Movies, and Books

My music taste can switch from Pantera to Nicki Minaj (I bet you're wondering how is this possible but I've learned not to hate music and just enjoy whatever comes my way). Some of my favourite authors are Haruki Murakami, Jack Kerouac, Sven Hassel . And some of my favourite books: The Millenium Trilogy, Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close, Of Mice and Men and many others. As for movies: Donnie Darko is an all time favourite, Star Wars, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind; oh and I really liked a show called Mr. Robot.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share the night life Bucharest has to offer; and in daylight the architecture, museums, crooked streets and all the cozy pubs scattered across the city. But if you want to adventure further I can take you on top of the highest peaks of the Carpathian Mountains or in the smirks of the Danube Delta, which countains over 5,500 species of flora and fauna, making it the 3rd largest biodiversity in the world; or see one of the 190 castels and palaces; we can drive on two of the most amazing roads I've ever seen, which hold unimaginable landscapes: Transfagarasan and Transalpina (which used to be called the Road of the Kings, how cool is that). I can add so many other things, like the bear population (biggest in Europe) or the ancient Dacian capital of Sarmizegetusa or the wine culture. But then again, if you only want to visit Bucharest I can show you the little things you can't find in a tour guide and then come back every night to my cozy apartment. But if you're feeling adventurous I also have a tent and a sleeping bag to share.
